Front Plate Solution

I've developed a legal front plate solution that gives a "floating plate" feel. The bracket I made puts the plate in line with the front bumper. I think this look is something that you either like or don't. It would probably look better if the car was lowered. If there is any interest in this please pm me and I can make you one for a price. The plate can be either mounted on the right or left side of the point on the bumper.

Looks like shit, just like every other plate on the front of the car (not to put down your efforts). No plate or go home, I get pulled over at least once a month for a warning but just continue to ride it out, who cares haha.

No its not the ebay one. I had it mounted on the nose and it looked terrible. . . this is better but I do agree no plate looks the best obviously, as far it being unbalanced it gives it more of a tuner feel I think.

Not sure what the ticket is in Ohio. I just bought a CL-S out of PA so there's no front plate on mine and I'm currently debating what to do...

Here in California, if they pull you over for no front plate, all they make you do is put the plate on and have a cop sign the ticket, showing that you now have it. And then you can just take it off again behind their back. No big deal at all. I chose to leave mine off.

That looks like the same mount I made, just moved to one side instead of the middle.

But this is the best:

The factory bracket not only scratches the bumper but it puts holes in it, and it makes it stand out to much IMO

I never had to pay that? Maybe the fee varies in each city?

The bracket uses the factory mounting holes in the bumper for the stock bracket so you don't have to drill into the bumper. . . try making one then get back to me on how custom it is

Not very. The hardest part was trying to get the angles correct. The factory bolt holes aren't flat on the bumper. They have about a 25* angle to them. So I had to bend the aluminum (I used 1/4" aluminum and it holds the entire plate, not just the two top bolts) with care - hard to do with basic hand tools and a vice. Still though, I knocked it out in an hour and that included painted it.

How does your bracket bolt to the stock bracket location? It on the passenger side, the stock holes are in the middle.

Damn 5 minute edit rule -

I wanted to add that I absolutely hate the front plate and Im planning on moving it to the driver side of the bumper. Also, my bracket isnt the prettiest looking, but it servers its purpose.

Thats wierd, my bracket wasn't screwed into the face of the bumper

Maybe certain dealers did it that way?

Now you have to account for two more angles when moving it to one side, good luck if you're going to try and bend a piece of metal and get it to sit right. As for MurdaZ, funny how people talk shit with nothing but bolt-ons. Like I said its something you like or don't; I had my plate mounted like yours civicdrivr and got sick of it too, it didn't line up with any lines on the car and just didn't sit right.

I just brought my whip to the shop today to get my front bumper replaced. I absolutely hate the gaudy OEM front license plate mount. If my new bumper does not come with any holes for the license plate mount, I am going to buy the Altec Powered Show N Go License Plate Mount from Summit Racing [http://www.summitracing.com/parts/AP...n/?prefilter=1]. My objective is to wire the mount so that when I turn my car on the mount folds out displaying the license plate and when I turn my car off the mount folds down hiding the plate. Will I be able to wire it up like this or can you only control it with the wireless remote control?
