Hey, Calm down, I knew this would happen so I asked the sales to take it off before I was even off the lot.

I took mine off at about 2000 miles. That's about 2000 miles too late. The scratches are not from cheap paint it's from the front plate frame. Rubs against the paint while you're driving. I should've risked the ticket. Probably cheaper than fixing the scratches.

I know in Hunigton Beach its a $10 fix it ticket, I got one.

Here in SJ there is no charge, you just have to show someone that its back on. (I got one here too.) I say its definitely worth it for the amount of improvement that is made in the looks dept.

Kept mine on, I took it off at around 1000 mi. and found scratches, so I put it back on. My sister got pulled over about a month ago while going to work in downtown, the cop pulled her over for no front plate, but when she got out of the car and showed him the plates...He said. "Shit, I pulled over the wrong car..Sorry!"

It's illegal not to have the front plates here in Houston too. But I think the car looks much better w/o the front plate, so I decided to take a chance and leave it off.
With or w/o the plate, my bumper will get stratches from all the rocks we get during our never ending road construction.

Many people take the plate off even though it is required. I am one. If I'm going to drive 85 mph down the interstate, I guess the risk of a $14 ticket ain't too bad.

If you want to leave it on, put some (a lot) of electrical tape on the plate holder, or the bumper, where it rubs. That should take care of it.

Texas requires a front plate, but I have taken them off the last three cars I've had. Only been pulled over once for it and received a warning. They are nothing but bad news... and they look bad too!

for the short period of time i had mine on, the bumper got scratched. i had it wet sanded, sprayed, and cleared. no more front tags for me! it's like a cheapy ticket here in Jersey, they've never bothered me about it though. it's weird though. the only car's in jersey i've seen with no front tags are the rebels like us with the "nicer" cars. hehe, although i did already take off the front bracket on my accord!

Never lived in a state that required that POS! Last car I bought, I told stealership -sorry, dealer , that if they drilled the front bumper, I wasn't buying it! On the car before that, I took off the dealer tag (in front of the sales guy) and replaced it with my UT plate .

I took off the front plate holder and applied a small bead of silicon window sealant. Let it dry and put it back on. No problems at all and no marks.

Come to think of it, I don't recall seeing any late-model Vettes with front plates here in Texas. Do those cars even have a mounting area? Why the hell are they needed anyway?

I just got a front plate ticket on my integra last month. You just have a cop sign it off but you still gotta pay $10.

Nova - the GS-27 stuff? Worked great on the leased car before I turned it in. Don't know what it does long term, but for that purpose, who cares?!

Mike - Vettes have front license plate brackets that can be ordered from Chevy for like $12 or so. Again, SC doesn't have mandatory front plates (contrary to popular belief, a rebel flag isn't issued w/ your driver license), so there will be nothing on my front bumper other than dead bugs! I will plaster a medium sized University of Tennessee decal on the windshield somewhere!

had mine off since day one, a ticket for tha front plate won't hurt you as much the scratches that will come to your car.
