Friend just bought 2004 Corvette auto for 45,000 out the door

Went with my friend to buy a corvette which he got for 45,000 out the door with auto. After sitting in it for a couple hours the car felt like a rocket compared to our cls but I was just wondering if you guys know what the auto corvette runs 0-60 1/4. After seeing the discounts on the corvette I wanted to trade in my cls for it.

i looked at vettes pretty seriously once. i backed out after the model they had on display in their showroom had a door that wasn't attached properly and didn't fully shut. had bad prior experiences with GM quality too so it just threw up a red flag and i decided i wasnt willing to roll the dice. if toyota made the vette for the same price i'd be on it like stink on shit.

Does it have the optional 3.15 perf. axle?

Makes a big difference.

I would hope it felt quicker, it's 400 H.P. right ?? And doesn't it weigh like 3100 pounds.

We have 2 'BLACK BEAUTY'S'. A black 97 CL and a black 97 C5 corvette. The reason for this reply is that the 97 and 04 C5 vettes are very similar, but let me tell you although Acura is a great vehicle and I believe the 97 CL was the sport model (excluding the NSX) that year, the corvette is another animal all together!

We love our Acura, and there are more words to describe it than I want to get into here, but you are decribing two diffent animals.
A 4 cylander front wheel drive to a 347 ci./345hp rear wheel drive isn't fair. The handling is similar in that they feell like they are on rails in taking a bend, but front wheel vs rear wheel, and a sport/family car vs a pure American sports car. By the way we get similar gas mileage around town, but the vette is better on the trip (unless the pedal is to the medal-lol).

The big think though, both are sharp cars and with the Zaino polish on them, we get alot of head turning as we go by.

ps The C6 is around the courner and has a standard 400 hp for the smaller model!

346cid and 350 hp

A buddy of mine has a '99 vert auto. It's stupid fast. He turned off the AHS, jerked the wheel all the way to the left, and just tapped the gas. We sat there doing donuts up in smoke.

Some day, I'm going to have a '67 427cid and a C5 in my garage. Those two are some of my dream cars.

The vetter dealer no1 in US had all the C5 almost 10,000 off!.. I called for Z06 and wanted to pay 47K instead of 57K for limited edition!.... Out of stock!

The 2004 Vette sales have tanked. The C6 is coming, and everyone knows it. Most people are thinking why buy a 2004 with the C6 right around the corner and are waiting.

I think that corvettes have a 70% loyality rating, so there are alot of return buyers. We should see alot of C5's hit the used car market once the C6 comes out. And even more once the C6 Z06 replacement comes out. This is good for someone who's looking for a C5, but bad for someone who looking to sell a C5.

Similiar thing happened to C4 prices when the C5 came out.

On a sports car!? your crazy.

For daily driving it's great... no argument. But for pure sports, nothing beats a manual.

after putting about 5K+ miles personally on our C5 I can say that in all honesty if I was to buy one it'd probably be an auto, I would never drive it as fast through some canyons/on a track w/ the stick as I would w/ the auto, and the 4L60 is a great auto tranny.

Maybe he forgot to read the recall on the vettes this week?

I kept up with a C5 vette, non-Z06, through 4th, and partially into 5th. I am sure he was only half way to the floor with the throttle.

The recall is a Computer reflash so the auto steering column doesnt lock up. They do it while your waiting.

Mine hasnt done it, but if it does i will take her in.
