So this is mainly a venting more than anything...
Beware of Hwy225 westbound right passed Beltway 8.
I'm happily cruising at 80mph on hwy 225 this morning into town from my home in Seabrook enjoying some good java and great tracks. I enjoy 225 as it goes through the industrial side of Houston and is a LOT better to drive through going into town rather than the parking lot called Gulf Freeway...I45.
So, I'm crusing along...big smile on my face, looking forward to cooler weather and beautiful sounds from my intake and exhaust when.......BAM!
I thought I was going to see the front left strut come flying through the hood!
They are currently resurfacing parts of the highway and have 'texturized' those parts to lay down some new blacktop... Well, when they came to an overpass, they failed to even out the difference in pavement and have left literally a 3" height difference (going up of course) in the pavement slabs. So...what happens?! What happens you ask!? A nice set of bubbles have come out on my left side tires as a result.
Thankfully no damage was done to the control arms or suspension...it was all tire and maybe a little rim. What sucks is that I wanted to wait till December to drop some mulah into some Inspyres and Paradas...but..that's no longer the case. Now I'll be dropping $700 into getting a new set of AVS ES100's.
AAARRRRRGGHHHH!!
Ok, venting done...pics to come up as soon as I can upload them from a computer that isn't "websensed"....hahaha
Hasta!

i know exactly what you mean, im just glad it only costs about 150 a rim to repair considering my rims are like 400 a peice, i havent had my car for 2 years yet and im on my 3rd set of rims. car before that went through 4 sets. i dont think potholes got much worse than NYC streets. i bent both front 17x7.5 rims when i had 235/45/17, alll that rubber and stick got bent

Contact Contractor???
I've actually been told that I should contact TxDOT and have them give me the name of the contractor working the site and file a claim with them for the damage...
Anyone know about this? Oh dear friend attorneys?!?

Good luck, but I think you will have a hard time getting any $$$.
Your speed is going to kill your claim. You were running 80 and the speedlimit in the construction zone is what....45 or 50?
Even if they can't prove you were doing 80, they can claim that if you were at the limit you would not have damaged your tires.

check out: http://fixrim.com/loc.htm
they got all the bends and such out, the only visible thing i noticed is that the coloring is not 100%, but to be honest, it's hardly noticeable, and for 125-175 a rim rather than buying a whole new rim, perfectly justifies the negligible differences

Houston has very very shotty roads. I almost got in several accidents driving the speed limit due to the large tire size ruts about 4/9 of an inch thick from large machinery digging into the pavement. They make you drive on these roads when there fixing the other ones next to it. They catch your tires and "guide" you into the wrong lane.
