My father owns a restaurant, not me. I'm in IT. The reason why so many Greeks own restaurants/fruit markets is because when they came to the US. They started working for restaurants. They saw how good restaurants, and fruit markets were doing, and saved up as much as they could to open a new restaurant/market. There are drawbacks to both of these kind of establishments. The long ass hours.

I'm a web developer / network administrator. My Dad is a director at Honeywell. We never got into the restaurant business. Lots & lots of friends, for the reasons that Spiro gave ... My parents are both from Greece, they came for graduate school.
