Former ccord owner wants to upgrade.
Guys,
My Accord got stolen last weekend in Vegas, I will find out what the damage is monday. I been shopping around since I do not want to keep the car if it is repairable.
Acura dealer close to my house has a 01 CL Type S Silver with Navi for about 22 - 23k it has about 38,000 miles, Black leather fully loaded, auto.
I am thinking of picking it up, but I need your guys help in figuring a good price to try to get the best discount from the dealer.
Also is a 01 a good choice? Been reading that you can swap the 03 tails and put them on a 01? Is this true, do you need any special wiring harness?
If I do get this ride, first thing I want to do is slamm the mofo, Tien make a kit for this car? or any other suggestions?

F*** that!!!
don't buy a used CL for that mcuh money. Someone on the board just got a new 6 speed for 27K. Worth it in my opinion to get a new car without worries of tranny stuff.
Try the SEARCH button on these question, since you're a n00bie I'll help you out a bit:
03 tails will need a new wiring harness if I remember readng the other threads right...
'01 is not a good choice. Tranny is a ticking timebomb... I don't care if tehy have an extended 100K warranty. Still timebomb.
Tein SS is made for this car. You're looking at about $800-1000 depending on who you can find to sell it to you for. A suggestion would be a camber kit to go with that as well as spending $150 at firestone for lifetime alignment. That way, when you adjust height you can just take it in for alignment to be done for nothing. $50 each time otherwies (generally).
Oh yeah, get parts used. Lots of people are getting rid of mods lately. It's a good chance to save a bunch of money if you don't mind lost instructions.

i love my '01. it's dumped on tein ss. they're the best if you want to go low.
yes, you can easily swap in the '03 tails. just need the right plugs.
the auto tranny is a weak point of the car, but acura has extended the warranty on it to 100k miles.

It' an 01, the tranny is shit. But it may have been fixed, for that I would talk with the dealer, they only get fixed if they took a shit to begin with, so it may still need fixing. Some of the repaired tranny's still blew, but if it was repaired after like Mar 03 (I think) you should be ok, rumor has it that Acura chased down the problem...but I have not been up on the reading for the tranny's too much lately. Sell ya my TL-S Navi for 22,500, with all those mods on it in my sig..only 35k and its an 02...one year newer :P

Dont do it, go into ebay. I have been contemplating to trade my 98 VR6 Jetta for a TL-S 02 with the blessing of my beautiful wife and there was chingos of 01 to 03 CL-S with lower mileage and for less . I will also get the 6 spd manual if you know how to drive stick. I traded my 01 for a 03 about four months ago and no regrets to this date.

did you see the link I posted up? it's a steal! with nav and 38K miles for 23K...
I'd jump all over it if I was buying my car again... save some cash and get the navi I always wanted...
maybe that link is more for my lackings in buying my car than to help you find yours
hehe...
but damn! anthracite and nav and '03 and 6 spd...
anybody want to buy my '03 black with 16K miles so I can buy that one? =P
So yeah, don't get an auto... it's just not worth the risk. And if an integra is your deal then I'd suggest you not even bother looking at a CL. They're two totally different cars. Type-R Integras are definitely fun... I'd go for the '98 in the Championship White just b/c it's such a nice color in my opinion. Something about that car in white just blows away the yellow and black.
Sorry, I'm rambling.
