Forgot the CL-S

Driving into work today with my wife I see a late '90's Maxima SE with a huge tail pipe out back. I was driving my wife's E46 328i 5-speed. As I make a turn onto the road were our office is I'm behind this Maxima. So I move over to the left lane and accelerate normally starting to pass the Maxima. Apparently he didn't like that so he speeded up and I let him go.

A bit further up he is in the lane in front of me coming up to a light which turned red. So instead of staying where he was he go over in the right lane blocking traffic trying to turn right (no turning lane) apparently to get side by side.

I warned my wife what was about to happen which of course was accepted. I didn't launch hard just a slow slip of the clutch and then got on it as he did. By the end of first I he was at my rear bumper, end of second about a half length back and then when I shut it down at about 75 (office coming up) I was about 1.5 - 2 lengths ahead. Which is about what I would expect.

But the kicker is that I would of really enjoyed it in the CL-S as now with I/H and pulleys I handily pull on my wife when she is in the Beamer. I haven't had anyone want to run around here for sometime, it was such a nice change...

Wow you can beat your wife while she is driving the 5spd Bimmer vs you in the Auto CL-S. Switch cars and show her how to manual shift the CL-S and see the outcome?

Actually, she can get a better launch than me not to mention weighing about 100 lbs less.

She has driven a manual since she was 13 starting off in a Corvette. Most people here would have a hard time driving a non-assisted clutch...

non-assisted clutch?

(if you're talking about a crashbox vs. synchromesh and the need for double declutching, then never mind...)
