only 3400 lbs? ok someone obviously doesn't know much about race cars....... 3400 lbs is rather hefty, for a "purpose-built" race car. The all-aluminum understructure is stunningly stiff and lissomely light, and clad in unstressed aluminum body panels. Ford hasn't released official weight figures, but the GT is expected to place only about a 3,400 lb. burden on the earth's crust.
the SLR is 3800 lbs, which is a lot, but nobody said it was a race car...

Am I missing something here? Why are they even comparing cars that are in such grossly different price classes? The SLR costs almost three times as much as the GT. To me, that's like comparing a Civic to a LS430...there's just no point.
