i heard a few people saying that there suspension bottomed out over big bumps. aka going too fast on crappy roads or big a$s speedbumps.
did you mean your car actually scraped the ground? because mine has a few times :o
the perches are at 3 turns from the bottom, must be at -3" or so. the other thing thats killing me is my snow tires are 215-45's.
so my cl is dropped like 3.5"
dampers set to - front 10, rear 8.
i'm gonna put on my rims and some 225/40-18 in a couple weeks

You have to break the Teins in for like about 500 miles or so. No hard driving with them. The shocks did to "open" up so to speak. I suggest you re-raise your suspension to like only a 2inch drop and after 500 miles, relower it. I used to have some problems, but after I found out they had to be broken in, I did it and now they work great. If you insist on leaving it at that height, be very careful about bottoming out, you might blow the shocks.
Gawd damn...I think you have the lowest setting out of any of the TEIN owners on this board. Hope you have some camber adjusters too or you'll be going through tires every 5000 miles.
The bottoming out ppl are referring to is the struts hitting the rubber bump stop. Like Pei said, be very careful you don't blow out your struts. I don't know how the roads are in Portland, but I know there is absolutely no way I can run 3 inch drop around here.
BTW: I didn't know there was a break in period either...what is the point of that?

Tein recommends going easy on the shocks for awhile so that they're broken in...I believe it's mentioned somewhere in the little tiny booklet thing that comes with the Teins...found it...look under the topic "Before/After Installation"...under the 6 bullet...this is what it says "Upon installation, avoid rough handling and drive slowly."
Also another thing to note...on the 6th page...under caution "The dropping of the ride height correlates to the spring rate Depending on the spring rate, the ride height may not drop as easily." I'm getting the upgraded Tein springs soon...I'll tell you how that goes matt.

hmmm, i dont think i followed that break-in period...but i know i tested the car out a few times right after i got em....do u guys think id be suffering the consequences now? I have never bottomed out once....

Not N1...you can only get those if you have an Integ or civic or whatever else. I have the WS. The ride is good...probably not as good as the teins if its set correctly, but then there is no dampening control. I mean for the price tho, the teins offer a lot more.

I wonder which would offer better ride quality the apexi or the Teins with the next higher spring rate option.

Thanks, I figured the Teins probably give a better ride, but what I'm really asking I guess is have you bottomed out your suspension like people with the Teins have?

mattg - so you got Teins now?
I love your drop. Reminds me of how low my Nex SS drop was. That's got to be around 4" drop from stock.
Also, bottoming out, at least where I am, means your shocks/struts are fully compressing and hitting the bump stops. That is what I experience. My car itself never touches the ground or anything like that. I never had that happen even when I was at almost a 4" drop with my Nex SS coilovers.
Only problem I had with them was tire rub epecially with a passenger and in a turn on a winding road driving aggressively, or making a tight turn or going up or down a ramp.
edit - also, check ur pm
