Foglights smoking!!!

Well i got my self some 3A Racing fogs the "HID" ones.
Well i installed them just like the instructions said, except for:
Instead of hooking one of the (+) wires to a headlight i hooked it up to the battery with the other (+) wire.

So i have 2 (+) going to a switch, then one of the (+) is attached to a relay and also a fuse, then the fogs.

When the car is running and the fogs are on they smoke, when it is off and fogs are on they don't. What the hell is going on.

please help

You are going through a relay right? What's smoking? The wire? The light? If it's the wire, it sounds like you have a short somewhere!

Its the light. I am thinking maybe its because its like 30 degrees outside and its very cold. Kind of like when you breath in the temp. its kind of "smokes" but then again maybe not.

If you touched the bulb with your bare hands during install it may be the grease from your fingers causing the smoke. If the bulb is totaly enclosed the disregard.

I would assume that when the car is running your fogs are getting a hight voltage (regulator output is higher than the battery output).

These fogs have not been modified in any way. I did not touch the bulb.

THe smoke is coming from the fogs, but none of the wires are hot. Just the case of the fogs.

its not thick smoke, just slight smoke.

Maybe its because its cold outside and they are hot, so this causing it to appear to be smokin

Im pretty sure he has gotten actually fog lights and not just upgraded bulbs for his roadlamps because he has a '97 so no road lamps there.
My fogs get extremely hot so when it is cold out or raining then they steam which looks like smoke so that might be it. Just a thought.

I actully took the fuse off of the (+) wire, and put it in a fuse box. From there i just connected that same (+) wire to it. So now my fogs will turn off when the ignition is off, actully when my door opens.
This is the same thing, except the fust is in the beging. But there are 2 (+) wires, one is the one that should have been on the headlight, i also put it through the fuse, is this why.
