Focals

Going to get Focals to replace the bose....but had a few questions

1. Do Focals have 6x9s? If not, what would be recommended to be put in for the 6x9 ( I would like a speaker that can handle bass if requested)

2. Whats the price range difference between the 165k and 165w's?

3. I notice the 165k2 has more power handling than the 165k, will it sitll fit in the CLS?

165k has 80watt normal pwr handling
165k2 has 100watt normal pwr handling

The amp I would like to use is the Brax x2400 4x100, but will go with the Brax x1400 4x50watts if the 165k2 are not worth it.

Need help guys

Thanks

Dave

Yes! They are a co-axial 6x9 and are only available in the lower line but they still sound excellent! (Friend has them installed in his 2000 Eclipse)

Why spend all that money on focals? What do you have driving them?

oooops, read that again.

you may have install issues in the rear, the pre-tensioners are pretty high up and it's a bitch to work back there.

Ernie... maybe its just my opinion and the opinion of any many others... but FOCALS are the best soundfing and clearest speakers on the market... and they are not terribly $$$$.... IMO well worth the dollar bill!!!!!!!!!!

They are, but it's a matter of application. Working with Ron for a while I see guys come in wanting Focals just for the name, no idea of the quality. If your a real enthusiast you appreciate them for what they are and the Utopia line is definitely one of the best out there. I always ask the question of 'why' though cuz they are expensive especially if your just looking a little better sound. Most people you put in a room with MB Quarts, Focals, and a cheaper brand they don't even pick it up, catch my drift?

I sat in a demo car that allows you to select whatever amps, speakers, subs you want to have hooked up and did test runs. I never even thought of getting focals until I heard them. we tested music from classical, jazz, to dance. The clarity was tight and sweet...the subs allowed for the awesome bass...a very good setup. I orginally was going to get 2 12w3 being pushed with two 500/1 JL amps. But after sitting in the demo room, it would seem that the system will be:

2 - 12L7 solarbaric kickers
brax SPL Competition 2 x 500

2-165k2 focal
2-27k focal 11" sub (rears)
brax x2400 4x100

as far as the focal components go, all depends on the opinions I hear on hear that will make me change the models....
like:
2- 165k focal
2- polyflex 690hc 6x9 focals
brax x1400 4x50

hard to decide.
