Flat tq curve?

Flat tq curve?

Been looking at several dyno graphs and most of them have a flat torque curve. So i was wondering are there any benfit from having a flat torque cruve?? i'm a noob when it comes to cars, help me out. thx in advance

It gives you consistent acceleration, and any RPM. If you have a torque curve that just peaks neat redline, then the car will be sluggish up until that point.

Also gives you better fuel economy, since you don't need to lug the engine at low RPM to climb hills.

In addition to what Wires stated; your car will accelerate the fastest at the peak torque. If your torque curve is flat and long it gives a consistant acceleration with no high or low spots. It also allows for you to use all of the rev band for each gear.
