fix for bump steer?

I hate it when I am excelerating hard though a long turn and hit a bump like a expansion joint in the road. Damn car feels like your going to lose control for a sec. What will fix this? New shocks?

Yeah, except with good power you can get MASSIVE oversteer.

Uh, no... Try taking a solid axle RWD vehicle over the same situation; the back end wants to jump out and come around.

Oversteer

Oversteer only frightens inexperienced drivers. No offense but most of yall FWD owners wouldnt know how to handle a car that was about to spin out of control, whether intentional or during an emergency situation. A good RWD driver knows the limit of his car and will anticipate oversteer and use it to his advantage to help steer the car through the corner while accelorating.

Great, now we have an expert RWD driver, how does that relate to the question though?? Most people are not experienced in emergency maneuvers.

BTW, don't make assumptions about us "FWD owners". Many of us also own RWD cars.

Look scal, no offense just poking a little fun at yall.. The important thing is that we all should take our cars to a wet, empty parking lot once in a while and practice handbraking and spinning your car, whether FWD or RWD. This is a good way to learn how your car handles and to learn how to regain control in these situations. The things you learn can be used to your advantage on the street or track.

That's called throttle steering and is best used accellerating through the apex of a turn. Trailing throttle oversteer is best used to help the car turn in.

Umm, you want fries with that?

I learned to drive in a Tahoe. I can count with my fingers the times I've used 4WD, even in Michigan winter. I mastered RWD driving in that monster, and I had never ever spun out in it. And I also drive my buddies' 240SX with SR20DET, C5 Vette and WS6. You don't have to lecture us about driving a RWD. We're not dim-wits.

And the best way to learn how to drive your car at the limits isnt in a parking lot at 10mph, its at a road course going 90mph.

And if you think the CL-S has bad bump steer like stated already a solid axle rwd car is much worse. I have bottomed out on a couple expressway on/off ramps in the middle of the turn, and if I hadnt been paying attention might have been pretty dangerous. It definitely gets your attention.

As for the CL, I'd say just get better tires and a well set-up suspension and hopefully that makes it easier to control. Its not like you can re-engineer the suspension geometry, but you can modify it to handle better.

I love how awd/rwd gets sooooooo much priase on this website. I'll bet if someone asked how to get the moonroof to stop squeaking someone would say that if it was rwd or awd it wouldnt have any squeaks.
