Ummm the 3.0 auto max from 95-01 will destroy a CLP??? I dont think so. My sis had a 97max and my friend also had a 98 maxima auto and I beat him by a few car lengths. I've also killed a pretty big list of 3.0 auto max from roll start. Now the stick can kill me, that I wont deny. But I can take a stock 3.0 auto max anyday.

my bad - i mean't to say 95-01 manual max's
I had a 00 TL that ran a 15.6-15.7
The best the 3.0 auto max's are getting are 15.8's

New Cl-Type S

Well I guess all those awesome cosmetic changes on the new cl-type s will just be enough to make the difference now.

Did they hide that 290hp engine somewhere in there?

The cold air intakes is a great idea maybe you guys can keep up now.

yeah, I was just as disappointed as you that acura wasn't able to make the cl as butt ugly as the 2002 maxima this time around.

3.2 v 3.5 huh....... How about we take OUR 3.5 auto v your 3.5 manual and then you can tell me how bad our rear end looks as we are pulling ahead. By the way, watch out for the stock '03 cls 6mt and run in the opposite direction like morpheus said when a modded '03 wants to go.

The 2003 CLS won't be much faster than the auto...for the same reasons the IS300 manual is not that much faster than the auto. I really don’t feel like explaining why but the people who know about cars know what I mean

Have you seen the gear ratios?

:pfawk: ANYWAY. IS300 isn't much faster because that engine doesn't have any power in it. Anybody on this board will tell you that the 3.2 vtec has untapped power which the 6MT will take advantage off. MOREOVER, the LSD will also make a difference. Keep repeating to yourself, my auto is almost as fast, my auto is almost as fast when the 6MT pulls ahead. Did you also forget that the 6MT is lighter?

Ha! They guy who posted before you suggested that that it depends on the gear ratio’s (He's right). Anyway the auto in the Current CL-S is already geared to take advantage of the engine. It is people like you who don’t really know why autos are slower than manuals (not going to explain) They auto trannys computer can be easily programmed to shift just like a manuals on WOT (i.e. Mercedes SLK32) The only "real loss" in power comes because an auto relies on the ATF to transfer the power which is not very efficient (Granted the computer is programmed for aggressive redline shifting)

P.S. This is just a guess but do you think this is why some of the CLS and TLS trannys are going bad?

The gearing in the current CLS does not take advantage of the engine. I don't know what you are looking at. 4th gear sucks. Have you even taken a look at the gearing in the 6mt? Each gear has improved considerably. Some of the gears nearly doubled. The only gear that grew taller was the final drive but this will help in the top end. I am very much aware of the reasons why a auto is slower than a manual so take the attitude and :sqntfawk:

I wish I have a J32A2 motor in my car so I can race maxima too. I guess I have to super charge my car for now (hoping Comptech make them for me soon).
