Looks GREAT
Well worth the download time for my CRAPPY 56K modem.

I wish our NAV had all those features.

Questions
What version is the NAVI?
Is the road coverage in your area better then the CL?

Thanks guys!

Shawn, the database version is 20020930 and the software version is 1.0000. This version seems to be more accurate. It even directed me to a street that is still being built in a new subdivision. Not sure where they get all the road info for the DVD's. You need one of these. I cringed looking at the ice all over your Blue Blinger. . .

wow...Acura really stepped it up for the 2003's. I didn't know they have a DVD in car entertainment now...and a back up camera. I remember reading over at the MDX forum that someone had done a custom install for both.

My pops has the 2002 MDX but w/o the Navi. I'm throughly impressed with this years upgrades.

Very nice....

My wife and I are in the process of looking at an MDX, etc... She originally decided that only an X5 would acceptable but after looking at the cargo room and price that quickly changed. Now the MDX is the leading contender and I am sure these pics will confirm that. Thanks again...

Now time to fit the SC to this...

OK, it is a good thing that we live on opposite shores as I have a 2003 CLS Aegean Blue Pearl 6-Speed and the MDX my wife wants is the same as yours...

also i test drove both 02 and 03 models (lucky me) the 03 MDX feels completely new. more rigid throttle response is better and a hell of a lot more power!!!!!!!!! definitely a best buy if you are looking to spend 38k-41k on a SUV. for the decked out touring model with everything on it for 48k i would rather go with a bmw x5, why? I REALLY WANT HIDS!!!!!!!!!!

Very HOT ride...

I didn't see the rubber, whippy antenna on the top of the car. Is it still there for '03?

With that said, can you do me a favor? My Dad is 99.9% ready to get one of these, but he needs to make 100% sure on the height of the car. We've been wanting to get back out to the dealer to check this, but just haven't found the time.

Basically, what we need is to find the highest point on the MDX, which probably the tip of the antenna and determine the height of that from the ground. The manual says 71", but that doesn't seem to incluce the antenna height. All that would need to be done is take a yard stick (something straight), run it parallel to the FLAT ground and then drop a tape measure to determine the height.

If that could be done, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Scalbert,

For the money you'll save by getting the Acura instead of the X5 you can now get your SC for your 6spd also!

Wow I like the layout of the new Navi. Any idea what is retained if you pop that Navi DVD into the CL/TL Navi??

Stuff like trip computer etc wont be reatined for sure, but what about the start up screen, menu screen, calculator, and split screen options??

I guess you have 2 really sweet rides now; wish you all the best with both of them.

btw speed, that is a tight ass ride too! but i too would go with the x5 if i had the loot...those hids are killer!

I know! That is one thing that is missing. But there are 6000K HID kits for $700 that should make up for it. A couple of people have gotten them on the acuramdx.org board and say it rivals the BMW HIDS.

No problem. Yes the whip antenna is still on the back. I'll measure it today and get back to you.

nice one!

i test drove a 03 loaded Mdx last week, VERY POWREFUL SUV.

The problems i have is the suspension being too soft for me (i also test drove the nissan murano SE and X5 3.0)

and the interior is clean looking but kinda boring compare to the Nissan Murano (VERY NICE AND SPORTY INTERIOR )

im willing to bet that the 04 MDX will get HIDS and probably a face lift. acura realizes that the more they improve that beast the hotter it will sell. so 04 predictions. HIDS with black housing, real high power fog lights, sportshift, automatic folding seats for the rear, better wheel design...

Don't get your hopes up. Acura is not going to change the MDX every year. And there is a reason it doesn't have hid's already. They would need to be self-leveling so they don't blind people. Those my friend would be too costly.

I was even looking at the X5 4.4i and cannot justify it. Tha main reason for my getting an SUV is to tote around the family. The MDX has more room than the X5 and is more useable through more features such as cup holder, etc. Also, I found the driving characteristics of the MDX better than the X5 for normal driving, better view easier turning, etc (excluding acceleration when compared to the X5 4.4i). Now maybe when pushed the X5 would be better but I don't intend on driving any SUV, particularly with kids in back, at its limits.

If I just wanted a luxury SUV and didn't have little ones the X5 would be the sure choice. It would exhibit better sport appeal along with better luxury. But when utility comes into play the MDX has a good margin over the X5 regardless of price. It has a sporting side blended with luxury combined with excellent utility at a great price.

Very good points Scalbert. I love when I read reviews on the X5 which is an SUV the last time I checked, and they tell you that there's not much room for your stuff !!!!

I remember reading somewhere that the 3 series wagons have more space than the X5's.

I measured 74.5" from the ground to the top of the whip antenna. I also measured the height from the top of the roof racks and that came to 71". Hope this helps.
