Finally! It's about time...
An OEM offered remote start!
It's a cold morning, maybe you're running late, and a chilly seat is what you have waiting for you in your driveway. Remote start devices for cars and trucks have been gaining popularity. They offer drivers the convenience of heating a car up or cooling it down before getting in.
With General Motor's remote start system, you can easily use the start remote button on your key ring to get your vehicle started on those winter days. And remote start devices can provide more than just convenience to drivers. It can also provide safety by starting your vehicle remotely while approaching it from afar.
Until now these systems were only available as an aftermarket add-on. The first vehicle you'll be able to buy with a remote start, from the factory, integrated with all the vehicle's systems and warrantee, is the new Chevrolet Malibu.
IS this the first "mass production" vehicle to offer remote start from the factory? I don't remember hearing of anyone else.
I can't believe it took so long to offer something that will probably sell like hot cakes. Not too mention the technology has been readily available for years. Let's hope this thing spreads like wildfire. It was 16 degrees this morning, and it sure would be nice to start the CL-S from the kitchen while getting my sh!t together.
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah. I can get an aftermarket. But I just think it's cool that someone is finally offering remote start from the factory. It should be a very popular option.

Suzuka Master
My friend's dad's Camry came stock with remote start. I think it's a 99 but it's not the newest body style. He has a key with 3 buttons built into it, one for unlock, lock, and remote start.
