Finally got rid of the CLS
Well guys, I finally had to do it. All the problems with the cls proved too much to handle. Last Saturday I traded the cls in. The cls was on its last legs. I blew my 3rd tranny and barely hobbled it to the dealer. The car wouldn't shift out of 3rd gear. I feel I got an ok price on the trade-in. The car had 36k miles on it, the tranny was jacked, a couple of big dings, gash on the rear bumper, scratched rim, a grip ofblistering paint all over the hood, roof, trunk, missing resonator box and slammed on eibach sportlines. The car had 3 transmissions replaced, warped rotors replaced, and two navi units replaced. They initially offered me only 19k for it but I was able to haggle them up to 21k for it. It was a great car and if I didnt have all the problems I would have definitely kept it for quite a bit longer.

Where did you take it to trade it in? I have 15800k on mine, I chose to lease versus purchase after reading this fourm, But its hard in SoCal with dings being acquired on daily basis, no one here respects anothers ride especially in SGV where the spots are tiny and everyone has a giant land cruiser. I may end up paying more in the long run to cosmetically fix the vehicle before I turn it in. Still got two years though.....

I think you got a good trade in, if I used the correct info: I assumed 2001 Type S, non-navi, and chose average condition:
$18, 386 Trade In
$19,450 Private Party sale
$18, 386 Trade In
$19,450 Private Party sale

chattapugggy, i traded it in at norm reeves honda.
Chrisbert, actually it had navi. I'm sure I may have gotten more for it private party, but I couldn't sell the car to someone with a clear conscience. At least by trading it in, the dealer has to worry about all that stuff.
Mike, hehe you know what I got already.:P

Excellent choice - S2K. Your are right, better to hand the car to the dealer, let them recondition it, and then sell it. You'll have to keep your eye out for it on the road.

blxmjx,
Thanks for the info, I would say you got a good deal, I was lucky too, lease takeover he owed 21300 on it, took it over for just that and 50$ lease transfer fee, did not have to put down or pay taxes, worked out great, initally from Pasadena Acura, but I take mine to Weir Canyon, they are cool with the mods, but I only have the AEM CAI at this point, I am so worried about this car, I may just roll it stock until the lease is up, Maybe I read this page too damn much?????

Thanks guys. Ya, the s2k is definitely a positive change in regards to handling and driving experience. I still miss the cls though. The cls has a nice package, good torque and power combined with luxury. The cls is a great car, especially the 6speed. I just felt it was time to experience a different car.
Ya, the s2k isn't the fastest car in the garage yet. Give me some time though.
