Finally dyno'd my GP...

Well, I finally dyno'd the GTX today and learned that I should really hate the chrome rims (guy estimated from all the cars he's done with the weight of mine versus stock GP rims I lost @8-10 wheel hp) Can't wait to get money for some light weight rims Here's the number and links to the graphs.

Max HP = 211.9 (219.9-221.9 corrected for rims... ugh)
Max Trq = 303.6 love that torque

Gotta love that torque though...

With all that torque (at low RPMs too) I'd think you'd really kick the CL-S' ass in the 1/4mi. More so than you 1/4 et suggests.

Numbers look good

Actually, stock for stock, they cars come down to who can launch better. Both cars are tough to launch, more so with the GTX due to the extra amount of torque. But the Cl-S makes it up in the HP. The GP would lead the first 1/2 then the Cl-S would start gaining. Who finishes from there would depend on the 60' times of both drivers. Best 60' time would win. My time was with a 2.17 60'. Getting it down to 2.0 should yield me a 14.1 or so and then throwing on lighter rims (mine weigh 10-12 pounds more than the stock rims each!) would probably get me 13.9 or so. (Each pound of rim weight = 6 pounds of unsprung(?) weight.) I'm looking at getting in the 13's this summer if I can improve my 60 foot times enough.

Torque is HP and HP is torque (HP = (lb-ft X rpm)/5252). What matters in a 1/4 mile drag race (meaning a straight line, raw acceleration race) is peak HP. Have all the torque you want at low RPM, it wont mean a thing at the drag strip. If anything, in the case of a FWD car, like the GTX, it will act as a disadvantage due to traction problems which will slow the car down significantly.

If the GTX were tuned to continue making "compparable power" at high rpm we would see this engine make 300hp-320hp with no problem but it is tuned for low end grunt so it "runs out of breath" at high rpm where the CLS picks up.

I have raced a GTX from 80mph-115mph and he was clearly pulling on me at those speeds. By the way, that is the mph range where our 3rd gear thrives.
