Looks good. Hopefully the chrom plating will stick for you. That is a very difficult area for any kind of coating, besides powder. BTW, hm did that run you?

Chroming was $500.00.

looks good.
$500 seems like robbery for just the calipers and backing plates though.

I'm sure I could have found a cheaper place to do it, but this place does a perfect job every time. They were a really rough cast before, so there was a lot of grinding to get them smooth before the chrome even went on.
Thanks for the compliments

I'm glad you noticed that I spend just as much time keeping my suspension clean as I do the exterior.

It slides on a rubber seal, which can be removed. They make a brake honing tool for the piston walls too, but I didn't really need to use that.

I'm heading down there with another batch of suspension stuff to chrome. This stuff is addicting!

So i take it after our PM's back and forth you found out how to get that piston and rubber dust boot back on.,....
Told you it was not easy... but after you do it 3 or 4 times, you get the hang of it..
I like how you chromed the dust shields.... very professional looking...

This is going to sound really odd, but one of the boots somehow either expanded in size or was larger to begin with. If I put the boot from the right rear and put it next to the boot from the left rear it was about 1/4" larger in diameter. I have no idea how this happened, but it made it impossible to install. I went to the dealer and verified that both sides have the same part number, ordered a new one (that matched the smaller size) and it fit perfect. Extremely odd....
Thanks again for your help though.
Also, they will not discolor. The brakes don't get that hot. I had the calipers chromed on my old accord for 2 years with no problems.

Keep in mind, I'm not partial to chrome. I think it should be used sparingly. I see a potential problem with chromed calipers and backing plate. From what I've read, chrome can inhibit heat dissipation for plated parts and also can act as a heat reflector. The backing plate will probably put additional heat into the brakes. If this is for show, then I don't see a problem, but if you're going to do any road racing, I would be concerned about premature brake fading and possible rotor wrap-page.
