Feel ready to track the car... (pics)

I think its just a matter of good weather now. I mounted the slicks on - here are some photos:

Side View:

Front View:

Tire Heights (should give gearing advantage):

If anyone wants to do a group 'Carlsbad Day'... sometime end of October or early November let me know.

I think it looks strange to have slicks on a near luxury car. But it makes since. I guess you've got a trailer for your car? Anyways good luck when you get out to the track.
BTW how do you think Bridgestone S03's, Nitto 555R's, Yokohama A032R's, Yokohama AVS sport's, Falken Azenis Sport's, stack up time wise vs. stock Michelin's vs. your slicks?

The reason I ask is because I'm planning on buying some quiet riding 19's for daily driving and some grippy 17's (and light weight rims) for the track.

Good luck allmotor, I know you'll get good times. Imagine if you had ran with slicks when you had the turbo.

So far springs... constructing a 'boltable' brace from the A-arm to the front tow-hooks (helps the wheel from moving front-back... robbing power and traction). Might try loading up the rear a bit... but that's overkill.

I think drag-racing is pointless on street-tires for a car that was never designed for drag-racing in the first place! I tried 'streetable' tires but with FWD and lots of torque it is a really hopeless situation

Another reason is that I might eventually go FI again... and having experienced the utter pointlessness of taking that much FWD to the track on DOT tires, these can come in handy.

It's funny because what it really comes down to someone like me that LOVES acceleration and drag-racing is the E.T. I could have 700hp and if I run 13's or something slow for that sort of power... what's the point?

I don't think drag radials are much better than stock - maybe 1/10 to 2/10's at the MOST.

Hopefully the slicks give 4/10's and the 8lb wheels give another 2/10th's and 1-2mph

I just hope nothing breaks in the drivetrain!! That would suck... considering how I react to things breaking on my car.

Totally agree with you 100% it's tough to get any grip. I guess dragger tires are the equalizer against RWD cars?

I had been looking at making some torque arms, traction bars or whatever someone wants to call them. Please send pics when you have this worked out as I'll probably want to duplicate them.

So what are ya going to do at the track when you bolt up the new wheels/tires; chain the stocks to a fence?? Just curious as I have seen this done many times but never had the guts to just leave them.

What I've done in the past is to put all my stuff (jack, jack-stands, tools, tired etc.) in a pile and cover it up with a bedsheet-type of thing. There is this 'honestly' type of thing out there... so far it has worked and nobody has stolen anything, but yes... it would suck if someone stole the stockers!!!!

Most people will because very few folks know this car is available in a 6spd.

60' foots were around 2.1 mostly on drag radials. Here's a summary of E.T's:

Header only - stock tires: 14.1x (2.2x 60-foot)
Intake (K&N in stock airbox), Header - Nitto's: 13.9x (2.1 60-foot)
Turbo - Nitto's: 12.9x
Intake (CAI),Header,Clutch/Flywheel,UR Pulleys,TB,Manifold,Removed Exhaust - Slicks: We'll find out!
