Falken Ziex ZE-512
What do you guys think about these tires?
Falken Ziex ZE-512
They're all season and have a load rating of 95W. I'm thinkin about getting them in 235/40/18 for my aftermarket rims.
The only thing that bothers me about these tires is that they don't "look" like they're gonna hold up well in snow, b/c the tread pattern looks similar to summer tires, like the Nitto 555:
The sumitomo HTR+ and the michelin pilot sport A/S have a tread pattern that "looks" all season.
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S
Sumitomo HTR+
What do you guys think? Does anyone on this board have the Falkens? I did a search and came up with nothing. Thanks.

Rubber quality of the ZIEX is terrible! Had them on my 92 Accord and after a little over 2 years of use (almost 25,000 miles of wear), the rubber began cracking all over the sidewalls and in the grooves between the treadblocks. The car was technically a rolling suicide machine waiting for the right time for the rubber to fully crack and cause a blowout. Luckily when I brought it in one day for a tire rotation, the tech saw the cracks and strongly suggested I ditch 'em and get a new set. Never went back to Falken for tires ever since.

For you folks that posted complaints, Ziex is a general line name . . . such as Proxes for Toyo or Turanza for Bridgestone. Each of those have more than one type of tire under those name designations. What would help is knowing what the exact modle was.

Hey guys, I'm looking at getting these Falken Ziex ZE-512 (v-rated) in a 225/60/16 for my 2000 GTP. Any more info or words of wisdom before I pull the trigger. If any of you commented earlier could let me know if it was this exact tire you didn't like, that would be great. Thanks in advance for any help.

I've run on Falkens for the life of my CLS. I ran on 512 for the 1st 2 years untill my wholesale outlet told me that they were now discontinued. I believe the ones that u are mentioning are new 512, but they still look the same as the old ones. Now I am running on these other Falkens. Sry I wish I could tell u what they are but I am on dial-up and away from my car. What I will say is that these new tyres are that they are FKIN SICK in the rain. When I 1st had them installed I went to the track for a show. On the way up there it was pouring cats and dogs. As I started flying past cars I decided to look at the spedo and saw that I was doing 85 in the rain. I looked ahead and saw that I had to have been pushin 1"-1.5" of water. Never once did my TCS light come on nor did my steering wheel ever go mushy. These tyres have 2 distintive water groves near the side of the contact patch. These water groves are big.
Now these tyres that I have on now compared to the 512. The 512 I couldn't get to chirp for the life of me. Only until I started spraying above 50 could I get those things to back. Now remember that I am speaking with track conditions in mind, all this was tested and done at the track. With 20-25 PSI in low profile tyres these things were SICK. When I would bump up to a 75 shot I would get minimal spin and then go. So yea the 512 are sick for straight line tracktion. Same goes for cornering. Now as for the wet traction u could only drive normally. No speeding in the rain as I can do now with my new Falkens, but u could still maintain the speed limit in the rain.
