External tranny filter... auto

Wondering if the installation of a filter before or after a Comptech/B&M tranny cooler would collect the pieces of the failing transmission before they would trigger the dreaded
5 to 2 instant downshift problem? Any one try this or other in-line or spin-on trannny
filters?

It might. I was always concerned about introducing another point of flow failure. Filter should bypass when plugged but I'm not fully convinced of the benefit. It also introduces another point of contention for warranty issues.

Points well taken... I'm intrigued with one unit with a small spin- on filter made by Perma-Cool....50,000 mile filter changes. The unit has a refernce to ...continuously cleans the transmission fluid to deal with sludge and varnish build-up and to prevent
clogged passages...' There is even an optional sender and gauge for your cockpit collection
that monitors tranny temperature. (www.Perma-Cool.com/catalogue/cat_page25.html)
