ext. warranty opinions pls.

Hey guys, some of you know me, ive got an 01cl-S which i've dogged pretty hard since i bought her with 3000 miles on her. 114k now. Original tranny still, had the oil kit done around 55k. Anyway i just purchased an extended warranty from an outside company (endurance) for 5 years 150 k more miles for a little under 1200. covers everything expecially THE TRANSMISSION AND ALL ITS COMPONENTS. Basically how it works is (god forbid) I break down, tow it to acura or whomever i want, acura calls them with the vin&price of repair, they authorize it, pay over the phone with a corporate account/credit card and im good to go, no deductibles. Those of you like myself who love their car and their cars are paid off this is a pretty good investment, considering how acura would charge 4500 for a new tranny (did some homework). I know my motor will last another 100k, but the tranny and the problems most of you have had, I doubt it. Anyway thats it.

ouch be careful with third party warranties -- more often than not they dont like to pay out high prices for auto repair...

I went with acura care up to 99k miles, trying to minimize as many gray areas as possible...

3rd party warranties aren't worth it. You'll be much better saving the money and using it should you need repairs. Chances are you won't end up needing as much in repairs as you will spend on the warranty. Maybe if you were driving a GM but not with an Acura. Skip it and save the money.

3rd party warrenty people r crooks!!

I work for a car dealership and the 3rd party warrenty is sh!t.
they make you pay to break the car down then reamberse you.
most of the time they will blame the incompetence of the owner and say it was from eccsessive abuse and refuse to pay it.
Are you gonna get a lawyer to persue them to pay it? NO your outta luck

Well, 3rd parties do usually suck, we can't say for sure on this company. I hope you read every fine print on your's to see how much they actually cover in money for repairs & if it's capped or how many times in a year you can use it.

I can tell you, you were better off keeping that 1200, adding to it each month then when your high mileage car goes, you can trade/sell it & then add your $ you saved to a newer car.

If it was a newer low mileage car I can see the value of a warranty, but
it may be a CLS, but it's still a 8 year old car with 114k miles.
