don't put any generic brand of universal style mufflers on the car. If you want a nice deep tone slap a pair of HKS SuperDraggers on your car.

There are many different set ups. I personally would go with custom. Anything you think up, you should do.

Custom is always best man if you don't feel like spending money. BUT you're new so I'll help out a bit. Welcome to AZine btw!

Choices:
Greddy EvoII - $600-800 for a full catback
Pros: Sounds deep, awesome tone
Cons: HUGE canisters

HKS Super Draggers - $575-700-ish axleback only
Pros: Sound totally sweet, deep tone as well.
Cons: Can't think of any, another member should chime in here

Comptech - $600 for a set axleback only
Pros: Quiet most of the time, very sporty growl to them
Cons: A little too subtle for most

Magnaflow: $140-160 for mufflers + $___ for installationn can be axleback or catback with custom piping made, WILL require you to cut your old mufflers unless you have them fabricate a full catback for you
Pros: Wide variety of muffler choices..a popular one here on the CL side are the 14832's, look and sound pretty close to comptech with minor adjustments
Cons: You have to source good welders etc, not direct bolt-ons

Those are the standard options we as CLer's have presented to us. OR you can be brave and do some custom work..

Example: One of our members has a single exit, single muffler Apexi N-1, sounds really good. A few of our other members have done quad-tips couple to magnaflow cans with resonator adjustments.

OR you could do something TOTALLY awesome and go dual HKS Carbon-Ti mufflers to custom piping..

Search is your friend, if you have any other questions just ask!

PS: Prices posted are MSRP prices from vendors..if you lurk around on the blackmarket for a while, you'll run into MANY of these exhausts selling for hundreds below MSRP...Be patient, and don't sacrifice what you truly want for the "I GOTTA HAVE IT NOWWWW" urge..take your time piecing your car together and you'll be happier in the longrun

you do own a 2001 or newer Acura CL correct? The stock exhaust system is a dual exit, so therefore you should leave it at dual.

Nice write up Onese1f

I agree it should be dual and I like the Comptech exhaust.

Once you add Headers & Intake with a Comptech CatBack...you will see how lovely they sound.

They sound sporty and perfect for a classy tuner ride!

^ Agreed, not to mention the cans look almost stock-like and its one of the few exhaust systems you can run while being almost completely stock (exterior wise) and not look crazy for doing. (No huge canisters etc)

Go Flowmaster and be different. They should sound pretty good, a Delta 40 would prolly be a better choice the Super 44's are pretty big.

Where exactly can you get the superdraggers or evo2's? HKS's site doesn't have them and greddy says they're discontinued for our cars

magnaflows I like the best because they are the cheapest got 2 mufflers and got them installed for under 200 dollars with tips and there are so many selections also I sold my stock mufflers for 125 so I really only lost 75 dollars

I have a '01 CL and I plan on going with dual HKS Hi-Power mufflers (3" piping, 6.7" shell & 4.7" tip) with custom bent 3" pipes. I might even go as far and install electric cutouts for that really loud sound whenever I choose...

By the way, are there any full-exhaust systems out there for a '01 CL?

Lol I was going to go with this setup too..not the Hi-Powers but the Carbon Ti's with the 96mm tip and 120mm or so can size. The 3G TL's I've seen with it done sound completely sick, and I've always wanted to see this setup on a 2g CL...I say go for it but forget the electric cutouts..and 3'' piping is WAY too big...keep it 2.5''<

I mean its your car, do what you want but just remember that big ass piping on an N/A motor is pointless (They <3 backpressure). Also...4.7'' tip is going to be HUGE and stick out from your bumper like a mofo. Keep in mind CT's have 3.5'' tips.

then you should hear my buddy's TL. He has the axle back on the stock 2in piping with the mid-muffler delete, its just obnoxious crusing down the street and kills your ears if you happen to be in the backseat.

He loves it but I gues everyone has their own taste for exhaust sounds.

why has nobody mentioned the Apexi dual cat-back exhaust system?

Has anyone tried this?

I see it's go zero resonator so i'd have to think it's a loud mouth, but the price is very good in comparison to most cat-back systems for our cars.

Anyone know more than speculation on this matter?

Simple answer.

Wasn't made for the CL.

The Apexi WS2 which is what I think you are referring to is only offered for the 2g TL. It requires fabrication to fit the CL. The aforementioned are all exhausts that have specific CL-friendly templates made.

Can it be done? Sure.

And for the record no, I actually don't know if its been done by any of the CL members..although I think I recall at least one person on here doing it...or maybe I'm just losing it..lol

Depending on what application your using your car for, I would go with whatever is the lightest (maybe the HKS Carbon-Ti muffler).

Lightest? On a CL?

I think that weight savings on a boat like ours is completely irrelevant unless the ENTIRE thing is gutted..

I mean come on, that's like putting a lighter antenna on a tank.

i think lighter is better for our cars. any weight we can save will help...
i read a while back from import tuner i think about an exhaust called "tear drop" from veilside and it only weighs about 8 pounds. i wonder if it would fit on a cl...
