Excessive Road Noise in An '03 CL-S

I'm wondering what might be causing some really really excessive road noise in my 2003 Acura CL-S. I have BF Goodrich tires on there, 85%+ tread left, and they're the Raptor or whatever kind of tires. And the car has 91K miles. I'm not sure what might be causing this.

Anyone have a similar problem? Even at 40 MPH its pretty loud, and at 80 MPH it's even louder.

Might just be the tires. They could suck. Check your tire pressure, & what size are the tires?

only Goodrich tire name that "sounds like" Raptor is Krawler

no wonder why you have EXCESSIVE road noise

might be a wheel bearing

or bad alignment that caused the tires to wear badly, causing the uneven wear on the threads, making that road noise.

most of the time it's wheel bearing (especially on TL's and CL's)

I have a similar problem with my 01. And I'm curious, is there a way I can check to see if its the wheel bearing myself, or would I need to take it in?

Actually the dealer that sold me the car told me they were Goodrich tires, but they're not! The tires are some off brand "Riken Raptor" whatever that is. Never even heard of it! I'm pissed, oh well.

Definitely sounds like the tires. I had some cheep ones on the stock wheels and when I upgraded to 18's with the Toyo Proxies the car sounds SOOOO much better now. Plus roads suck in most places so that makes a lot of noise too.

Dude,

I'd be willing to bet it's the tires. I have a cheap set on my OEM rims and some Falken's on my Devo's and I definately notice the difference since putting the winter shoes back on my CL-S.

i had lots of road noise. it more like a rumble on my 01 cl-s. i has 18" with S-1000 tires or something like that. it was also a off brand. i put my stocks on with a good brand tires and no road noise! i think its the tire and the tread. not i have some kind of grinding. i can hear it slow, below 20mph? and the interminttent grinding slows with the speed. im thinking maybe brakes, im gonna get them changed soon anyways, its pretty low.
BTW my tires+rims are for sale! follow the link below!

bearings might need replacing, or could be a warped tire(s), especially if they're cheap. if you inspect the tires close enough, you may see warping (uneven surface) on one or more of your tires.

I'm sure some of you out there know this, but how can cheap tires cause road noise?
I just dont quite understand how.

Some tires have cheap rubber or materials that lead to a noisy tire when in contact with a hard surface like a road. Some have bad tread designs that will also yield unwanted road noise.

most likely it's the tires. my friend has those tires on an 01. they are hobbible. if it's wheel bearing, you will probably be able to feel them vibrating while driving. i thought it was the cheap tires when i first bought my 18's. i replaced them. it ended up being the wheelbearings. depending on milage, be prepared to replace balljoints as well if it is the wheel bearings.

If you notice the sound changes with different road conditions (wet, different paving) very probable is the tires... if the noise is a constant humming sound with different road conditions, there is a bigger chance it is the bearings
