Excelerate Performance: XLR8 Clutch Systems Now Available!!!

Excelerate Performance is excited to release our XLR8 Clutch Systems!! Our systems only work with the manual transmission Acura CL.

To view the options, simply follow the link below and enter your vehicle information.
XLR8 Clutch System - Excelerate Performance - Japanese and European Performance Specialists!!

The systems are available in the following versions:

Daily

This clutch kit was engineered for those with bolt on modifications. This kit includes a heavy duty pressure plate, which has an increased clamp load with little or no increase in pedal pressure. The organic disc material has a high metal content that increases the co-efficient of friction by two times over a stock lining and increases rotational strength up to a 12,000 RPM burst point. Overall, this clutch system maintains a stock feel while offering strength and durability. The recommended usage is for a vehicle that is driven daily, for street performance or even a moderate race application. Torque capacity will be roughly 340 ft/lbs.

Street/Strip

This clutch kit was engineered for the street/strip climate. The pressure plate is precision balanced for vibration free operation at high RPMs.The friction material is a kevlar design. The recommended usage is for a vehicle that is driven daily, for street performance or even those used for rally or endurance racing. Torque capacity will be roughly 425 ft/lbs.

Drag

This clutch kit was engineered to handle heavily modified cars and designed to function according to the specific needs of the drag strip/track. Discs are a segmented puck design (6 puck setups available), which reduces rotational mass and are assembled with all high carbon component pieces for maximum strength. The friction material used is graphite-impregnated ceramic, which is perfectly suited for drag racing because of its maximum friction co-efficient, rapid heat dissipation, and abrupt engagement characteristics. The recommended usage is for a vehicle that is used for drag racing or drifting. Torque capacity will be roughly 500 ft/lbs.

Flywheel

The XLR8 flywheels are made by AASCO Motorsports. AASCO has been manufacturing flywheels for over 20 years. Their unique ability to manufacture thousands of the highest quality OEM replacement light-weight flywheels as well as several hundred custom variations differentiates them from the competition. AASCO maintains a high level of quality control.

Each kit includes a pressure plate, disc, flywheel and release bearing. Pilot bearing not included. Each kit and flywheel will be supported by the manufacturer’s warranty.

I already bought and installed an AASCO flywheel. I believe they have replaceable friction surfaces.

When my OEM clutch goes out, can I just replace it with your clutch and a new friction surface? Or would I need to buy an entirely new flywheel to fit your clutch?

You should be able to use the AASCO flywheel you have without any issues.

We now offer kits without the Flywheel, for those of you who just want to resurface and reuse your OEM unit!

Will be contacting you about this kit when my oem starts slipping. Shouldn't be long considering how I abuse it.

Which kit would you recommend for an autocross and road course car that still is driven on street? Don't plan on pushing over 300 whp or wtq. Maybe down road do NA build with 350 whp max.

Just to clarify, you guys are now offering your Heavy Duty Pressure Plate and an XLR8 UNSPRUNG clutch disc, for the CL-S6, that can be used in conjunction with a new/resurfaced SPRUNG OEM DMF, should one want to go that route?

No, the clutch is sprung I think.

lol, yes, i suspect that as well.

Not sure if it is prudent to use a sprung clutch disc with a sprung OEM DMF for the CL-S6, though. :

Our Strip series is a sprung disc that can handle up to 425 ft/lbs of torque and would be great for a auto x or road car. The Daily kit would also be suitable but if you want something with a little more sporty pedal feel that can handle more abuse, the Strip is the way to go.

That is correct, our clutch discs are sprung, and should work with oem flywheels without any issues. we also sell just the pressure plates/clutch discs separately for those that want to run a different aftermarket flywheel.

Think I'll go with daily since I'll never have over 340wtq.

Is there any discount code for free shipping?

It's fine to have the extra dampening. You can also run a single mass flywheel with an UNsprung clutch if you wanted (you would just have no "give").

It's good to see this thread because my stock clutch just started slipping when abused at 145k. Could I also have the free shipping code? Maybe we could get a group buy going?

I think I may go with the 2nd level kit for the sportier feel

PMed! We could definitely put together a group buy. It would probably be along the lines of:

5 orders - 5% off and free shipping to the continental 48 U.S.

10+ orders - 10% off and free shipping to the continental 48 U.S.

Group buy would last two weeks, until Friday June 24th.

My oem replacement clutch is slipping after under 5000 miles. This thing is junk. It cannot handle full throttle in 2nd gear during autocross.

My first oem clutch without autocrossing wasn't replaced till 120,000 miles.

Would be in for a group buy, but not sure I can wait that long.
