Well, I was at the track the other day(see my other thread), and a guy I met a few weeks earlier pulls up in his brand spanking new Evo8. I really like the car, except for the rear wing. This was at 2700ft elevation, so keep that in mind. His first few runs were in the 14.5s, but then I think he started getting the launch down. Another of his buddies shows up in an Evo8 as well. He immediately starts pulling 13.9s. Thats like 13.45 at sea level, bone friggin stock. The other guy then starts pulling 13.9s too.

Then it happened, my buddy in his moderately modded GTP lines up with one of them. My buddy usually runs drag radials, but he was on street tires this time. He usually runs high 13s at LACR, so he had a chance. Light goes green, and my buddy cut a good light, but the AWD Evo launches real hard and starts to run him down, but near the end the GTP held him off. My buddy ran a 14.1 and got the win. Later in the staging lanes my buddy thanked him for the win. The guy said sure, missing third gear is a bitch!!! We were all laughing our arses off. Missing third and still running low 14s at elevation. Unreal.

Bottom line, those Evos are for real. Mid 13s bone stock!!! I wonder what the WRX STi will do. That should be a great rivalry!!

 

i want a evo 8 bad we have not got them in louisisiana yet hopefully i will own one

 

evos are fast as hell, thats true. but personally i go for comfort over speed in buying a car.
