Everyone with Alpha Werks Headers

Do some of you guys have a weird vibration sound or like a hum at around 2500rpm (not talking about the highway) just talking about like when you are off the line and if you just give it a little gas and when you get to 2500 if you stick around that range do you hear a hum (I guess called resonance).

I checked my A/W headers yesterday and on one header piece there is a hairline crack, nothing to be worried about so far as it isnt where it connects to the gaskets. Any type of liquid glue that can withstand the temperatures that I could put on it? Ill take some pics later.

Yes, I had that same exact sound at 1750 rpms in the first three gears. I guess you couldn't hear it after those three gears but I'm guessing it was still there.

It got annoying after a while.

to get replacements? The crack is located beneath the weld.

He didn't get them from excelerate. He got them before excelerate started selling them.

True I bought them for $285 not $600 , also I just checked again, the crack is a hairline crack and its actually right in the middle of the weld on top of the header. Im sure it could just be welded on that spot without taking it out since it doesnt wrap around the back end. I may not even have to do anything about it at all, I will get a pic up tomorrow and them hopefully get some thoughts and advice from you guys

Hey guys...just read through the post...what everyone refers to here as "resonance" is the sound attenuation at those rpms. It is a caracteristic of the engine that at that particular range of rpm's you get that particular sound attenuated. In designing the headers a basic decision needed to be made as to choose one of the following:
1. Optimum sound attenuation with sub-par power because of the redesign, or...
2. Optimum power with an optimum sound attenuation at every rpm except those few hundred rpm's

Again it is not a problem but a design choice and a result of an aftermarket header. You will cannot have stock sound if you want aftermarket power...

As for any issues with welds we have never had a problem with any of our headers or exhausts or turbo manifolds. If anyone were to have problems with this please PM me asap with the images as there is a first time for everything.

Let me know via my PM...

LETS SEE THE PHOTO... I check again today for resonance sound, which was abnormal from when i first installed the headers. I havent heard anything but soon as you post up pics of the hairline crack i will go by my headers and do a thorough search for cracks...
