Engine Noise/Vibration Problem - Need Help!
OK - Latest and greatest problem with my stock '01 CL Type S with 99,600 miles... New tranny, ECU and fuel pressure regulator 4 weeks ago, new EGR valve done by yours truly 3 weeks ago...
Now I have a very noticeable knocking noise coming from the engine... It seems to be sporadic, but it happens when the car is in park, neutral or drive and is most noticeable at low RPM. I can even feel it through the pedals. I did not have the noise/vibration this morning when the car was cold for the first 5 minutes or so. I have gone through at least 4 tanks of gas since this started.
Dealer said its internal to the engine, and kindly offered to replace the engine for $6,600, as they won't do repairs.
I want to sell this thing soon, but was hoping to make it until January. Any ideas on if this is something major? Last thing I want is for this engine to die and be stuck with an (almost) worthless car... Any info is appreciated.

possibly related to the EGR as it could cause knock...not sure id start with a compression test but id think you'd throw a code if there were some internal problems

Engine Knock
I have a similar problem. Someone suggested check the valve adjustments (maint. req'd after 105K miles). I'm left with 3 things:
1- EGR valve (didn; think so)
2- Knock sensor, which would self adjust the timing due to the vibration. may be defective
3- Valve adjustment- $450 avg price
4- Timing belt (someone sggested this but it has to break or lose teeth to cause significant damage so I don;t think so).
Let me know what u come up with.

Above n Beyond
does it sound something like the thread I posted 2 years ago? It only happens in the cold weather for me. That's what I came up with. It didnt do it all summer I dont believe, and now I notice it with it being a little colder. Still 2 yrs later, it does it once in a while, but I have no had any problems.
I DO NOT HAVE AN ENGINE KNOCK THOUGH.
If this is nothing to do with your problem, then ignore this post. lol
