I just bought my 01 CLS last weekend and it has 16k on it. Cpl days ago i noticed the engine check and side airbag lights are lit. This morning everything is fine. I know that once the engine check light comes on, the car has to been checked. It doesn't matter if it's off now.

Any Advice???

 

Get an OBD-2 scanner and check it out... or better get the dealer fix it for FREE!

 

If you are in So Cal.. I have a scanner.. I'll check it out for you.

The side air-bag light probably came on becausey you must have had something big on your passenger-side seat

 

Thanx Nashua for the advice. Allmotor actually i wish i lived down south. I live an hr from San Francisco. ama give the dealer a visit but would they charge me for labor though??

Here, i am again...
The light just came back on again today, This is the 2nd time it comes back on since last post.
I went to the dealer and they said it is probably from the freakin gas cap, so they said just wait for few days and it will go away by itself. So i waited for 4 days and it was still lit. I went back to the dealer and he decoded the check light. A week after the same problem again, i went back there so he took it in. At the end of the day he said that they couldn't find anything wrong w/ the car, so they decoded it again. After 2 weeks (today) the light came back on again. I have had this car for less than a month already and i went to the dealership 3 times already. What the hell, this really bugs the hell outta me.
Any of you guys been through such thing? Please advice me.
BTW it is Concord Acura in east bay.
I will be heading to the dealership in the morning AGAIN.

 

Find another funking dealer..the OBD-II scanner will spit the code in a second... What the diagnostic code?

 

would that be on the Acura work sheet they give to u to show u what was worked on??

 

Had this happen to me when I had my Maxima. it was a 96. Took it to one dealer, kept telling me the gas cap was loose. Finally I took it to another dealer and they found that a vent line for the gas tank was bad. Replace the line and the light never came on again.

 

I had a repetitive check engine light last summer. after the 3rd trip (yes, they were checking the codes, but some of those codes are pretty non-specific) they took a look at the evap canister and found a bad valve. problem solved.
