Eibach Pro-Kit broke in half (pic inside)

I thought you guys would be interested in seeing this. This is the Eibach Prokit rear right spring from a 98 Honda Accord V6. After seeing reports on this forum about Comptech springs disintegrating. I have to say Eibach springs do live up to its name. I've had these springs for over 5 years carrying heavy load sometimes (5 to 6 people), and the salty winter here in Chicago finally did it in. This is the rear right spring. The broken section is where Eibach puts a rubber tube at for silencing clunks. The rubber tube traps moisture and makes rusting process faster. If not for the tube, it would still be fine. Eibach has 1 million mile warranty and will warranty my broken spring. They were in disbelief when I told them it split in half.

i don't know about you guys, but my comptech springs were made by bett spring company located in san leandro, ca. said so on the tags on the springs.

hmm... a friend of mine knows a guy that works there. i wonder if he could make me set to comptech specs?

My god springs have been being made for a LONG time now, you'd think problems like this wouldnt be occuring.

The front two springs are in perfect condition, mind you, this is after 5 years driving in Chicago! The front two springs have no coils that touch each other, therefore, eliminate the chance of powder coating getting rubbed off from coils and rust. The rear left was still intact but rusted just like the rear right. The quality of Eibach is there, but salt + water + snow + air eventually rusts out any spring from any manufacturer

a properly powdercoated spring will NEVER rust.... the fact that the coils were touching eachother without any sleeves is the other side of the story...

you can literal beat Powdercaoting with a hammer and it will not crack or break off..

your lucky you did not get hurt....

Good idea for almost everyone to check theirs out, especially after the CT incidents.
