DVD NAVI Update 2.30A disc

Just got it, just installed it..but when going to the setup -> Next -> Next -> Information screen, it reads SOFTWARE VERSION: 2.11.28

BUT the disc itself has laser etched 2.30A. It actually complies with the online 2.30 update info: school icons changed from red to green and indeed, everything matches up to 2.30a. Should I call acuranavi.com support?

BTW - went from 2.05A -> 2.30A update. I also burned like 10 copies...1 backup for me and 9 others for .......

ANYWAY - I hope this is the correct version...and I got it for one fiddy + shipping + tax

Is the navi update really worth $150? For that much does it have any drastic updates visually, or is it just changing school colors???

yah, i'm willing to help you with your bad disc problem...
I hear paypal can help fix your disc problem. Perhaps I can direct you to the right source to get your disc problem "fixed"...

pm me for some help

As for the updates, I can tell you this:

Coming from 2.05A:

1) The map seems to be moving alot faster and smoother when you scroll the map around

2) IT GIVES YOU ALOT MORE DETAIL. I have to admit, where I live now, the 2.05A does not give you the right directions nor street details. 2.30A fixes this I'm really happy about it.

3) I have not seen any new icons (manually being able to turn on/off in the setup menu)..the same 3 categories are there to be displayed: ATMs, Gas stations, restaurants. However, I guess the school icons are changed from red to green.

4) The page up/down feature is slower - you will notice when you try to page down 3 listings per page at a time - it takes a while even when you hold down the up/down keys. It shows you that the "database is loading"...

5) When you put in an address, it is slower to look up. For example, you put in 4th street, followed by 4000 - punch in 4, then 0, 0, 0...it will take a second or 2 before you can input the 0, 0, 0's. A bit of lag..nothing bad really.

6) I did try to look up all the usual locations I attend and YES, they are all listed in the right order!

7) Overall, I'm very pleased because there's enough of an update in this version to warrant a purchase. I come from 2.05A so this is signficant. I was holding up until I saw a need and the price was cheaper.

The woman's voice in this version is a bit more mature...nothing bad about it. No menu changes though - things are the same but they have added "unverfied routing" feature.

2.30A disc is not encrypted. Disc size is 7GB+. Fits perfect and works perfect on a DVD+R DL disc

I bet a lot of people have lost their disc, 20$ could add up real nicely for paypal.

Yes, please pay FULL PRICE for the disc. Law abiding citizens are what this community needs more of. Again, I hate bootleggers....i hate companies that rip off consumers also. Again, I do not sell backup discs or whatever - shit, thank god for Digital Vision Diskes! I tried to put in my robin hood dvd and it did not play? What the fuck man! It says DVD on the eject button..

shit...technolgoy is so hard

FUCK - Broke ass bitches!

ALRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIGHT:

Here's the fucked up dealio. I'll confess, my backups DO NOT WORK. I went thru (in reality 4 DVD DL discs already). Here's what happens:

There's no CSS encryption on the disc - not a DVD Movie, no reason to. However, there may be some sort of structure encryption.

ALL FOUR BACKUPS DO NOT FUNCTION. Well, technically they work. Here's what happens:

2 Blanks (both DVD +R DL's) written with DVD Dycryptor - they work in the NAVI PLAYER - but the navi player says: Incorrect version or some shit.

2 Blanks (both DVD +R DL's) written with Nero dvd copy - they DO NOT WORK - both have (unformatted) errors.

At least the first 2 works (disc is read properly) - just that the system does not recognize the DISC VERSION. FUCK.

I am going to try with some DVD-R DL's (here by wednesday again) and then use isobuster to read/write. This has to work.

LOL, buddy this has been tried and attempted many times. Its not as easy as it seems, those guys who make those dvd's arent dummies. Do some research, you have to mess with the bit settings, blah blah, trust me, its not as simple as burning Happy Gilmore or some video dvd.

Good luck though, atleast you'll have alot of coasters to put your beers on.
