DUDE......A Toyota NHRA funny car???

They can use just about any shape that makes sense to the airflow. But in the end it is just a lift-off shell with no inner working of the real car.
I bet the engine still couldn't be placed to a manufacturer, just hand built from the best parts. BTW, most top funny cars will make nearly 6000 WHP, a far cry from the Toyota I6 making 1000 HP.

BTW, Toyota I6 engine is probably a lot more indestructible than most of GM, Dodges, and Fords big block v8s.

Isn't the RSX drag car still running the I4 motor in transverse mounting?? These do generate 700+ HP but hardly relevant to a funny car.
I love seeing the reference to the Toyota I6, I agree it is a stout engine. But within every make there are always special engines that are gifted. Who is stronger is hard to tell, but there are numerous GM blocks supporting double that HP on less boost and no nitrous.
But when it comes to 6 cylinders, I do recall many turbo 3800's making over 1200 HP with little done to the inside. I just see the Toyota I6 as being a prime example of a prefered and stout powerplant of today.

As all nitromethane burning classes in NHRA, topfuel and funny car, their engines are basically all based off a hemi w/ a huge blower on it, 14-71 maybe....with no relation to the Toyota, and and on the same token, the engine in John Force's Mustang probably has nothing to do w/ a Ford. And as someone said, they make about 6000-7000hp estimated.

As we have said before....look for the fastest Integra in the world. Remember they had Toyota starlets running 9s in Puerto Rico off the dinky 3tc powerplant for the longest time.
