dry ice icebox?

I was at the track this weekend and was running 14.6's 85deg. I know that warmer air gives less horsepower, but what if i put dry ice into the icebox (by the cone filter) wouldn't that drop the temp of the incoming air, and another question would the extra CO2 (dryice i think) would it mess up the sensors to give less power
???

another question is when i was shifting i was not letting off the gas at all and when i hit 3rd and 4th i hird a little chirp i think its the belt slipping, but i checked the belt and it was really tight??

any input of comments are appreciated

thanks guys!

If you attach a small bar refrigerator inside the engine compartment with the icebox sealed inside you'll be better off. Just run all the ducts through the side of the refrigerator and seal. Make sure you can open the door to change the filter. I had to customize the hinges for this application. Power can handled through a converter.

I saw a guy spray N20 on the intercooler in his Vette to cool down incoming air. He gained like 80+ horsepower if i remember correctly. Note, this was not a N20 shot - he was just using it to freeze the intercooler.

Not to go off topic but what rpm do you launch at? Do you slip the clutch or drop it?

Thanks

It might have been CO2 spray, not N2O. http://www.designengineering.com/cry...r_sprayer.html

so if that cryogenic thing works then putting a small block of dryice in the icebox box would work then right?

I think the best would be to make a sleeve for a CAI and fill it with dry ICE.

The cryo bulb freezes, cooling the air around it as it passes by, it does not inject it into the intake tube. I'm not sure what Co2 into the intake will do. It might be bad.

Looks very interesting... They say it works for NA cars too, seems a lot safer than NOS. Might have to check this one out.

If you weren't letting off the gas when you shifted, power-shifting, it was probably you tires.

A block of dry ice in your intake would probably not be a good idea. Sure, you're cooling off the air that's going into the engine, but you're also reducing the amount of oxygen thats going in - dry ice is solid CO2. If you want to try something like this, you'll need to figure out some way to vent the CO2 gas coming off of the dry ice.
