Drove a supercharged CL today....

Supercharged CL55 AMG that is

remember
this thread ? (to take a line from Ms. Spears) oops, i did it again.

seriously though, compared to the 500 you can def tell the difference, an addition of almost 200 horses will do that. wow, i mean ive never been in anything like it. every detail in the car is awesome and the acceleration is rediculous. its got a pretty small turning radius for such a large beast. the exhaust note is amazing, whereas the 500 was quiet and comfy for driving the 55 has a nice deep sound while cruising and an awesome roar when put to the test. it also has paddle shift sport mode and stick engaged sport mode, i preferred paddle shift, but regular auto did the trick too. the back seats are pretty large. like i said, everything was on the money it was great.

i used to think that if i won the lotto (when im old enough ) i would get a porsche turbo, but man the CL55 was just so amazing and comfortable it def won my heart. i believe the sticker was something like 125k but def felt like a million bucks. ill be dreaming of that exhaust note for many years to come....

*please no hatin, im just really excited and wanted to share the experience with you guys.*

Who the hell would buy a Porsche when you could have an SL or CL 55 AMG?

Porsches are sooooo over-rated IMHO. Not performance-wise, just looks and comfort-wise.

Porsche may be all about looks and comfort to some people. Give me the GT2 anyday over the CL55.

cl600 is even better

i can't believe that the clk500 doesn't have the motorized seat feature like th cl-s/cl-p coupes, i.e.e if someone wants to leave or enter the back, all u do is lift a lever and the seat comes forward or back accordingly...pretty disappointing considering they're going for almost twice what a cl-s is going for (new)

Having explored and ridden in one, I'd take an SL 55 AMG over just about any other car.

I test drove the CL when it first came out. my friend is a manager at mercedes. plus, we bought a total of 4 cars from that dealership. old 190E, C230, E55, and my sisters boxter. I'd rather have the new SL.

Boy I sure musta been tired last night because I swear I wrote "SL 55 AMG" but somehow it reads "CL 55 AMG" now. I just edited it to fix it.

SL 55 AMG is the car I'd take over just about any other.

werd?

maybe that feature is an option and NOT standard as it is in the ack cl coupes and g35 coupes...that would explain why the cl500 i was playing arnd w/didn't have it....however i did ask the salesman and he said they didn't have that feature

Porsche is RWD rear engine with 300+ HP weighing 3100 lbs.

they have been leading the pack for years

I dont think the Porsche should ever be compared to with any car not even the NSX although they are close

Porsche is in a class of their own period

there are a good number of people who have traded in or passed on SL55's because the CL is just as fast and more comfortable.

and i compared to porsche not because of performance reasons, but because both are high class, exclusive dream cars, that is all. i said that the CL55 just impressed me so much.

lou please, porsche cant be compared to even an nsx???
hows this: my head being pushed by an invisible hand into the comfy seats of an sc'ed nsx, as we pass a porsche at the track on the straights. oh and the turns is even worse. oh and not just any porsche, this one had a cup racing motor imported straight from europe. something of the likes of a gt3 engine with more internal work.
the point is an nsx is one of the most capable cars out there.
lou, the nsx is in the exact class of a porsche. in fact, since porsches are not so impactful in looks (imo) where as the nsx is absolutely exotic gorgeous, i consider the nsx to be in a higher class than a regular ole carrera or C4
sorry for rambling on and on but i just couldnt ignore that comment lou

Umm...What I believe to be Porsche's flagship car, the 911 TT, (Including the GT2 and GT3 wouldn't be fair) it would wipe up the NSX all day long, Acura's flagship performance car.

ALthough I have much love for Honda and its engineering, its going downhill. Look at all of its competitors!!! Why buy an RSX when you could get a WRX; why buy a CL/TL when everyone here jumps to a G35 or 350Z; why get an RL when you can get a Benz/Bimmer/Lexus; why get an NSX when you can get a Porsche. See what I'm trying to say?? It seems that consumers nowadays are looking for RWD, more power, and a manual transmission. I would bet a pretty penny if the CL-S was RWD, you guys wouldn't think about trading it in. The RSX; its nice, but its competitors wipes it off the floor. The RL, oh my God is this such an awesome looking vehicle. If this car was RWD and had way more horsepower, it would sell like nothing else. The NSX; nothing more can describe the beauty of this thing. This car is gorgeous and way better looking than a Porsche, but it doesn't sell because its underpowered. Common a freaking Sti makes more power than this. Honda needs to step up!!! For those of you comparing an NSX to a 911 Turbo, WAKE UP!!!!!!!!! This car is no where in the league of a 911 Turbo.
