dropped...now rattling
dropped...now rattling
I just dropped my car a few days ago with the H&R sports and tokico illuminas. it looks great but now there is an incredibly annoying rattle from my back seat area. It sounds like there are bolts that are loose and rattling but i can't imagine that we forgot to tighten them all. I was hoping to not have to take my seats out again to find it but that may be my best option. Anybody have a similar problem after dropping their car? A friend of mine said after he dropped his maxima there were rattles that never went away because of it...has anybody experienced that either? thanks.
mine has done it also - sounds like some metal to metal "clunk" noise actually. I can only hear it with the radio off and only over quick/sharp bumps. Weird, I took it back into the shop and everything was still tight - but the noise is very annoying.
I had this same problem after the Acura dealer install my CT springs. It would only make noise when the suspension was responding to sharp change in road surface. After several months I figured out the problem and it was that the CT swaybar that was to close to a cross bar/car frame and it would hit the frame when responding to the road. Since I adjusted and reposition the swaybar I have not had the problem/noise again. Prior to this I did remove my seat and everything in there was tight, so I would say try to look at the sway and then go into the car if needed.

I say rear sway bar also. that happened to me, 2 months after the sway bar install I took this s turn real fast and after that I heard the same metal to metal clunking. It was driving me nuts. The bar felt tight to my pressure, but to the 3800lb pressure of the car it moved ever so slightly to hit the rear spindle and make the noise. I hope you find your problem.

your problem is the rear sway bar
1. loosen the brackets bolts connecting the sway to frame each side, clean and lube the bracket bushings .
2. check and retorque end link bolts
3. reposition the sway bar allowing the end-links to be in the same (exact ) position on each side of the car. ("balanced")

Assuming the shop knows what to do, What should I say to them, I don't want them to trouble shoot too much, becasue they might take the oppurtunity to blame something else. I just want to drop off the car, shhould I just tell them to take out the sway bar and lube it, then reinstall it very tight? Noise is the only thing that bothers me right now. and what about the front end, is the sway bar potentially loose there too? damn I sound like such a Noob.
follow the proceedure in the helms, if they have access to it.
teflon tape is the bushing lube. (2 wraps at each location after thorough cleaning of the bushings
locating and centering the sway is essential. as well as proper retorquing
