Driving my new 6 speed!

Okay i just bought an 03 cl-s 6 speed. It is my first manual car and have never drove a manual for more then 2 minutes before buying this car. After buying it i learned on my friends 06 rsx-s and was perfect. I mean no stalling, jerking, or grinding gears. But in my 03 cl-s i still jerk when I shift. I know the cl is harder to drive but do you think anything is wrong with the car or do i just have to keep practicing haha.

Thanks in advance for the feedback guys.

practice man, I've noticed the clutch feels different in almost every car I've driven. You'll get it down pat in the CLS and then go back to your buddy's RSX and it'll feel different.

Keep burning that clutch a little when you shift engage the clutch shift and start giving it gas when the clutch is still engaged a little, as you letting it go out all the way

Enjoy the 6 speed.

If you're learning on the CL, hopefully it's under warranty.

Every car feels very different. I drive a 6 speed CL, my 5 spd Talon, and my roommates 02 Accord 5 speed. All feel completely different from the next.

After a week straight you should be okay.... you shouldn't have to take it past 1,500 to engage though.

I've been driving stick shifts for 17 years, and after 5 days, I'm still not as smooth on my new CLS-6 as I'd like to be. Definitely a completely differently feel from my last car (Saab 9-3 Turbo). It has much less feel in the clutch to give you the feedback needed to make smooth launches/shifts. Add that to a powerful, responsive engine and you have less room for error than in most other cars. Keep practicing, you'll get it right soon enough!

I drove a 2000 Mustang with a 5 speed before my CL and the very first thing i noticed with the CL is the clutch is really tricky. I know exactly what you are fealing, but its been a few months now and its no sweat!

Haven't seen any around with navi lately. There was a blue one on LI with navi that sold right before I sold my old car - I just missed it. That would have been sweet!

keep practicing as long as you are not grinding. make sure the clutch is to the floor before and while you are making any quick shifts. The car is diff from most. those who say they have owned a stick and can drive it, stall it the first couple of times they drive it. However, I think most on the board with a 6speed which they have had for a while will tell you they, myself included, can drive is as smooth as an auto. Sometimes some of my car idiot passingers dont realize my car is a stick. with practice you will get it and love it. enjoy the ride.

Rondog's looking for a 6sp?! I always felt the 6 speed deserves the kind of attention and modding that your 01 auto has. good luck!
I can see you with a white or blue, but I'd vote for the 03-only anthracite for obvious reasons!
Still love my 6 speed but increasingly po'ed at Acura for forgetting about us coupe drivers!!!

Sorry, I just remembered that when I went to buy my car last week from Park Ave Acura in NJ, they had just gotten in an '03 CLS-6spd WITH navi. It's Anthacite/ebony, had 50 or 55k miles (I can't remember for sure). Body looked nice, no spoiler, no signs of paintwork. Newer Toyo's, aftermarket alarm system. The only thing I saw wrong was the pleather on the top of the driver's side door panel looked like it had bubbled and been re-glued. Didn't drive it, and I don't know what they're asking, but it might be worth a look.
