driving the CL-S from Pittsburgh to Seattle

For those that don't know I recently quit my job and decided to move home to Redmond, WA. I've had the CL on the market for over a month and a half and I've received little interest from buyers in this city.

So my pops is flying out next weekend, and we're driving across the country. What's cool is my dad and I did about the exact same trip 20 years ago. I was five years old than, and we drove from Chicago to Seattle in a Datsun station wagon. Pretty crazy, eh...

So my question is how should I prepare the CL for this trip? I just got brand new Sumi's, brakes re-cut, and an oil change. I have about 30,000 miles. Should I do any other major maint?

I plan to take I-90 directly across. Can't wait to fly through Montana.

I did that drive in a U-Haul four years ago. The CL-S should be a bit more comfortable. Drive safe.

excuse me if this seems like a dumb question, but what if I put clear packaging tape around my front bumper and lights? Would the glue on the tape do anything to the paint?

I would rather not spend the money for a bra I'm going to use once...especially since i don't have income anymore.

Bra would be great, but if not, put something on there to keep the bugs from sticking so much.

The trip should be great for you.

I think Montana has a summer speed limit of 85mph. But, it may still be winter there...

In Montana they have had more fatal accidents since lowering the speed limit to 85 than they did when they didn't have one.

check to see if your city has a publication that comes out weekly that allows non-commercial advertisers to list their personal goods for sale without charge to the seller.
Such publications go by the name of "Bargain Finder" and "Buy Sell" in Canada and there are listings inside of everyhting you can think of being offered for sale including used car bras for every kind of vehicle. Normal pricing here is at least 50% off new to as low as almost giveaway if you come pick it up.
I'd imagine you likely have such a magazine although I have no idea what name it would go under (and if not, stay in Pittsburgh, start such a magazine, charge the commercial advertisers for their listings, charge buyers to buy the magazine each week, and then when circulation gets good, sell it to the Auto Trader franchise guys (that's what happened here) and retire.

you need nothing but an oil change, some cash and credit cards, cds and a AAA card (or whatever that acura service thing is.) i've driven from san francisco to ohio and back two times a year for three years, from 1200mi on the odo to 63000mi. i've never needed roadside assistance. the cl is a solid long-distance highway cruising machine and will not let you down.

i wouldn't recommend a bra. your car is gonna collect alot of dirt and it will get between the bra and paint and scratch it up. you'll be fine without one since it's not winter. i've had my hood repainted twice from following 18 wheelers too closely in the winters.

bottom line is, as long as the car is properly maintained, just hop in the car and go.

Make sure your tire pressure is good...check your coolant. You can buy those ghetto nets to put on the front of your car if you only want to protect the nose for the long trip. I personally can't stand bras (on cars OR women) so I wouldn't waste my money on one just for one long roadtrip.

Chikai are you a golfer? When I moved back to Seattle from Maryland, my bro-in-law and I made a golf expedition out of the drive across country. Played some great courses and it broke up the long hours of driving.

Yeah, we had a great time. If you decide to do it, we played an awesome course in North Dakota of all places. It was ranked by Golf Digest and was well worth the trip. In fact, we almost stayed an extra day to play it again.
