I wouldnt go crazy with the car but just do a little at a time lower drive it for a while , exhaust drive it for a while, body kit maybe, If you still want to do other stuff to it after you have spent a little then go nuts SC whatever, but I would go slow with the modding you dont want to spend a shit load an realize that you would of been better off buying something else. even If was sure I wanted to keep it I would still go slow and enjoy the modding just my opinion

trying to stay on topic and somewhat agreeing with what everyone else is saying.....
If you do have lots and lots of money, there are better options car wise out there for you....HOWEVER; if youre looking to stay with a CL, and you dont want any other car THAN a CL, then it would be best for you to start out with a better platform. You have a base CL.....performance modification wise, it would be smarter if you started with at LEAST a CL-S auto. The best CL platform, in my opinion to have, is the 03 CL-S 6 speed. But, that all depends on your preference.....auto or manual. If money were no option though, you can do anything you want with any car. The only thing limiting you then is your imagination.

CL-6 is quick not fast. when u can get the car into low 13s or high 12s that's what i call fast.

CL is limitted too cause of the FWD.. if i were to wanna have a fast car FWD is the first thing that's gotta go

I guess fast is subjective.

I consider a car fast when its in the 10s and 11s. 12s and low 13s are quick.

Family cars off the showroom floor run high 13s and 14s today.

Fast is when your car can beat 99% of cars on the road that you pull up next to.

Quick is when you can beat the top 80% I'd say.

i dont know. some civics hit 11's thats fast. i consider low 12's fast. 13's are attainable in factory accords and it just doesnt seem that fast to me anymore.

yea and the US unemployment rate is 15% right now from 4.5% the previous year. so the american dream is getting more and more far-fetched.

Ha, not exactly where you got those statistics from, lol. 4.5% unemployment would be the golden age. But either way your point is taken regardless of the numbers.

Yea, your numbers are a bit off, but I know where youre coming from. Theres no such thing as the middle class anymore. Im trying my hardest to make it to the upper (even if its lower upper).

I agree but only partly.

A new family car does not run those times.

New family cars are usually typical basic sedans, like a Toyota Camery, Ford Fusion, Honda Oddyseys est.

All of which run in the high 14's to 16's est.

A new BMW 5 series is a family car that can run the times Civic mentioned. But it's classified as a "sport" sedan.

New cars that run the fast times are usually "sport oriented"

When you equip Accords and Camrys properly you'll run 14s with ease. Thats what our "luxury sports" coupes did stock in 6MT form.

The 3rd gen TL-S can break 13s stock, as can the new Accord coupe 6MT.

Maximas and Altimas arent too bad either. A Hemi Dodge Charger and even the 300C can run 13s.

And if you want to bump the price up a CTS-V is still a family car and that runs 12s.

And I don't know if you've noticed, but family sedans are slowly morphing into "sports sedans".

This thread is really off topic now.

Make a thread in the car talk section so we don't clutter this up.

Don't waste your money. Invest it. Your CL gets in a wreck or stolen and that money is all down the drain and you'll be SOL and wishing you had that cash in your bank account.

I like how the OP only has 10 posts on his record and created this thread and then never came back in. Yet it has still somehow managed to grow to about 3 pages and counting......
