Drag Strip Drama

Made my first trip to the drag strip with friends this past Friday. While a lot of fun, I also came across a new problem that has me and my gearhead friends a little confused.

After making my first run, I pulled back into the waiting area and turned the engine off. After about 5 minutes of shooting the breeze with people, I went back and started the car again to move into the staging lanes. The car fired, revved to its idle speed, ran rough and then slowly dropped until the car stalled out. I restarted, and pulled into the lane. At this point, I noticed that the Check Engine light was on. While waiting, I turned the engine off again, and when I restarted to move forward, the same thing happened. I restarted, and watched it stall like this two more times, after which point I feathered the pedal to keep the RPMs up. After about 150 seconds of doing this, I let it go back down, and the car stayed running, and wasn't running rough anymore.

On the way back, I dropped by an auto parts place and had the codes read.
Here's what came out:
1. Random cylinder misfire: Blocked EGR or Valve clearance out of range

2. Random cylinder misfire: Fuel system concern/ignition system concern/MAF sensor faulty/HO2S.AF ratio sensor fault/blocked intake or exhaust system

3. Cylinder 1 misfire: Vacuum leak/ignition system concern/blocked or faulty injector/engine mechanical condition

4. Cylinder 2 misfire: Vacuum leak/ignition system concern/blocked or faulty injector/engine mechanical condition

5. Cylinder 4 misfire: Vacuum leak/ignition system concern/blocked or faulty injector/engine mechanical condition

6. Cylinder 5 misfire: Vacuum leak/ignition system concern/blocked or faulty injector/engine mechanical condition

7. Cylinder 6 misfire: Vacuum leak/ignition system concern/blocked or faulty injector/engine mechanical condition

Auto parts guy suggested that the EGR may have melted or failed in some way, but since he didn't know what my car was when it first pulled in, I'm just gonna take his advice at face value. Other suggestions have been that the MAF is messed, and that CLs and Acuras in general are slow and cant stand up to a drag race.

Anybody got a guess?

how many miles do you have on her? I would clean your throttle body out and maybe your intake manifold than replace the plugs and coils. do you have an intake on it or rockn the stock box?

First question, have you recently got any work done on your car?

I would have to guess Coil pack. Do a resistance test on them.

Around abouts 58k miles.

Have been running an eBay intake for about 5k now, but getting ready to switch back to stock box for a bit.

No other mods/work done recently.

The car doesn't seem to be having any problems now, so I'm going to get the codes cleared, then check to see if they come back. Hopefully this was a one-time thing, but I'd like to nip whatever problem this might be in the bud.

it happens to our cars, from time to time when u accelerate hard,\
The 1st time was like above and the 2nd time was me reving the engine hard while spraying TB/carburetor cleaner to clean the TB.

Once u clear the code it goes away.

make a few really hard pulls with it and see if it comes back, if it comes back, put some seafoam in the gas tank and vacuum line, change the plugs, clean the egr (the manual way)

I would start with removing the upper intake manifold cover. If the bottom side of the cover has a ton of black buildup on it blocking the little passage ways in the cover then your EGR needs to be cleaned as well as the upper intake manifold, probably the throttle body, and IACV(Idle Air Control Valve) too. Take them off and manually clean them with a tooth brush and some throttle body cleaner. For the upper intake manifold, cover, and gasket, just take them to a wash it yourself car wash and hit them hard with the high pressure spray gun. If you own a pressure washer use that instead. It will take everything right off. Trust me on this one. I would not pay to start replacing things until you rule these out.
