doublekill tonight: Mini cooper S and Benz S600

ok so this past week i finally got my car out of the "break in" period and i was anxious to finally really open her up. (im in an 03 CL-S auto). so tonight me and 4 of my friends were on our way to meet up with some other ppl when we slowly rolled up to a stoplight with no one in front of us so we had the light to ourselves. My friend in his 'rents Mercedes S600 V12 (auto) pulls up in the left lane, I'm in the middle lane, and my other friend in his Mini Cooper S (manual) is in the right lane. we're sittin there at the red light and we all look at each other and know its on when it turns green. i flip it into SS and turn off the AC and VSA. light turns green and we're off. I got a pretty good start, hardly any peeling... my friend in the mini got a bit of a jump with me close behind and then my other friend in the s600 started slower (cuz that v12 is so friggin heavy). by time i hit second gear tho i was already ahead of the mini S and S600 by a car length. and then i just started pulling away. the s600 had a slow start and started to kinda come up on me but never really got close to where i would be worried. in the end we cut it off at around 85 and i was a good 1.5 car lengths in front of the s600 and about 4 car lengths in front of the mini S. it was a good race, all of us gave the thumbs up at the next light and my friend in the S600 rolled down his window and was like "damn your car is pretty fast". i was surprised myself at how well i did considering it was my first race in the car and considering the car is bone stock. i kinda figured i'd beat the mini S but wasnt sure about the V12 S600 since its got a lot of hp and torque but its so damn heavy. but anyways, just thought id share my moment... doublekill

Stock Auto CLS whoopin up a mini S til 85 - expected.
I just have to ask, did the benz sit and spin it's tires for a while or something? I know the race only went to 85 but once he caught traction that thing should've walked on by with ease.

What year was the Benz? It can't be a 03 cuz I saw a video of one running 12.3 in the 1/4 and Car&Driver got 0-60 4.3 and 12.5 @ 115 in the 1/4.

yea the S600 spun out on the start pretty bad and theres no way he was on the gas all the way cuz i mean cmon its a V12 i was like wtf why isnt he catching up quicker. its not the twin turbo version of the S600 (dont they make one of those?) this is an '02 S600 auto... still a V12 tho. we'll have to go at it again tomm night and ill make sure to tell him to push that thing to the max.

Nice kills. Yeah the S600 "should" have beat ya but traction problems could have a lot to do with it.

the other day we were talking about it tryin to figure out why it happened bc seriously that car should have walked me. basically it comes down to he peeled out a lot and wasnt gunning it the whole way (he's kinda a pussy when it comes to racing, doesnt go all out, after all this was his pops' car, he didnt want to risk anything) he was shifting using teptronic or whatever sports shift mercedes have at around 5000rpms everytime, he wasnt even redlining so that would def be a reason he didnt blow me away like he shouldve..

also this weekend my friend with the Mini Cooper is bringin out his old car: BMW 850 (V12) to get a little payback. im ready to get my ass handed to me haha

mmm... 850 CSi is a monster... it's believable that you beat an S600 that was just cruising along... a stock mini cooper should be a laugh, it'd be like racinga stock prelude or something... aren't they mid 15 second cars?
