double din in my cl

I was in the store the other day and was like i want a double din but i know the only kit for it is like $350 shipped from the guy on here. I decided to pick up a reagular single din radio kit and build one myself. I don't normally do this but i had a free day. tell me what you think.

Nice work. I picked one up (modded DD kit) to put my oem nav down there so I can put my Kenwood nav/DVD in the upper stock location.

It's still pending. As soon as it'd done, most likely in about a month.

looks great but what advantages do you have with that (navigation right?) over my magellan? i can get updates on roads with a simple download, i have tons of POI and its portable. i was reading something about that DD setup that a lot of people have on here, maybe what you have but the major downfal to that is it only has 1 disc slot and if you want to change a route or destination you have to take out your music CD if your listening to one and insert the navi CD, does this sound familiar? i just like the fact of having a 6 disc changer too. your setup does look good, and if i were to stick anything aftermarket in there it would be something like that, i opted for the factory look but custom sound with a signal processor.

I don't lie, that's where I got mine for hundreds less...

you guys need to do some research so your not forking out hundreds of dollars for a piece of plastic.

I would never pay 350 bucks just to make it into a DD.

bestbuy does not sell a double din kit for our car and neither does scosh. the $350 is not for the kit i made but the price of the one made buy an audio guy on the forum. I work at bestbuy so if they had a kit i would not have spent the time making this on lol. i have more pics i will post later.

not really sure what that means. i know that is a lot of memory, how do you get music on there? ipods/DLable music are great for personal music or on the go, but for quality sound nothing will beat a CD

i bought flat black from lowes their brand lol. yeah matches really nice if anyone wants me to make one i can they will not be priced crazy because i am just starting but they will run like $100 because of time only parts are cheap but between the cost of the kit and supplies. this is not an ad lol just if annyone wants to have me build one. thanks

Not bad. You gotta be crazy asking $350 for that kit. There is a vendor here that has them for a little over $100 shipped. I don't remember his name. Good work with your kit though.

Dammit. You're supposed to play along. I'm not a fan of shameless promotion and I wanted to give props to xclaudio24 but I had to correct yins on the price of the kit.

Again, good work on the kit.
