Door check replacement

Anyone have issues with their door checks not stopping the door while on an incline?

Both driver and passenger side doors won't stay open when on any type of incline and sometimes even on a level area and a slight breeze will shut it. I took it to the dealer for srs light and mentioned it to the guy and he said that the doors are to heavy and even brand new they don't work like other cars. Is that true? FinF it kind of hard to believe that even if I bought new ones it wouldn't work better than what I have.

I did find a pair at a local junkyard for about $10 so wanted to give those a shot since I would lose much from buying those.

I have a 2001cls.

It's worth a try to install what you bought at the local junkyard. It also looks like you may have to remove the inner door panel to install them.

I can say that after 16 years, my driver side door check is alot less restrictive, to keep the door open, then the 'hardly' used passenger side. I'm thinking that you should see some 'improvement' by using the salvage ones (depending on their condition). The new OEM checks (#18 & 22 on the link below) are like $16 and $18 each.

I replaced the one on the driver's door, of my 03 TLS, at 196K. now, at 238K, it still works well. Such an annoying problem.
