dont you hate it

when you buy a brand new car and think you're getting the best up-to-date stuff....just a tiny rant....

i bought my 2003 with navi and love it...but why doesnt it have the automated voice control like the 2003 MDX or Accord?

also, the new gauge cluster and stick shift console look so much more appealing than ours...i understand there will always be new stuff coming out the next year, guess i just didnt expect it to be so much better....oh well i still like my car and will have it for a few more years, just hope its not totally out-of-date by 2005....

Your “brand new car” is nearly 2-years into its production run and the dash and NAVI design are going on FIVE. (based on the 2000 TL)
Plus you probably got a sweet deal buying this late instead of at or near MSRP for us early adapters.

Why complain ???

DUDE, I SO AGREE WITH YOU! I got raped up the ass doing a trade in just to get this 6spd CLS...now everything is outdated...but at least the new TL has the same 6speed tranny as our 03 CLS'!!

I don't care about the new navi (except maybe the nice ass 8-inch screen size)..I WANT MY MUTHERFUCKING NAVI UPDATE....it's getting very ridiculous and EXPENSIVE!

$2000 down the toilet!!!

most of the interior was dated even in 2000 when the CL was first released let alone 2003, but i had no problems accepting that

Actually the car is a bit older than any of you guessed .Remember the car takes a few years to design and test so the design was "frozen" way before actual production begins.
Even though some new Acuras feature voice activated controls adapting this stuff to an older design is not as easy as one might think .
It is not cost effective to do the reengineering to accomodate this stuff on a car that was effectively discontinued long before any of us knew this would happen.

This is the same issue with pretty much any purchase that has the slightest ounce of technology built into it. I've learned to accept this a long time ago and I have no regrets.

I my CL Type S.

The degree of technology growth in the last 20 years makes this an exciting time to be around.

Look at the bright side….
It’s still YEARS ahead of most of the interior designs you see at your local Nissan/Infinity dealership.

From the few examples that I've seen and sat in I think Benz and Audi have the best combo of quality, luxury, and sportiness. Lexus interiors have awesome quality, but they just arent very sporty.

Take a look at the Cataract CTS interior and you will feel much better.

But I agree with Darrinb, Lexus has the best interiors.

true, it is technically 3 years old on the interior, and i really dont have any major issues (except maybe the steering wheel on the 03 Accord has more radio controls) but its some of the little things...and im thankful for their spacious and luxurious interior, but i sure as hell didnt get a discount on the price b/c ive had it for 1.5yrs now...anyways, not a big deal, just thought about complaining a bit....

45k on a lexus GS and its navi is left in the dust by the new accord, slower than a new accord, and quite a few other issues

Unsure, the GS NAVI is top notch now. For 01 the screen got bigger and it gets updated every year. Lexus has won awards and is regarded as in the industry standard for NAV.

I think you got a 98-00 NAV which is the 1st gen unit and is not as advanced as a 04 Accord.

WIth the way technology is coming, cars will pretty much be like houses soon. Imagine, your very own Starbucks in the glove compartment.

Things are getting smaller and smaller which means we will be able to fit almost anything we want into a car.

I thought NAV was a gimmick but mahn, all my cars from now on will have it.

As some may know, I just bought a 2003 Black/Ebony Navi/Res MDX and all I can say is "wow"........WHAT a difference. What a SOLID car ! Voice Navi is OK, nothing to loose sleep about. You have to lower the radio volume WAY down, the AC way down, windows up.......get it ? Otherwise, it doesn't understand the commands. It just a larger screen and a few more advanced features, but again, nothing to get worked up about. What I realize is this car is like a CLS on Steriods ! Side by side, same headlight design, grill design, same seats, head rest, etc.......but I have to say, they built a hell of a car ! It is ROCK SOLID, plenty fast (quick), silent, NO rattles, smooth riding. Only thing I am adjusting to is two fold: Gas mileage and NOT driving my CLS much anymore........
