Does your CL-S do this under heavy acceleration?
Does your CL-S do this under heavy acceleration?
Today, it was a nice sunny day....
So, I went a bit heavy on my CLS, under heavy acceleration and SS shifting 2nd-3rd in the 5,000 -6,000 rpm range and and my CLS was literally jumping forward.
It that something normal?

I have a 2001 CL and when i throw it from 2nd to 3rd it does that. I think i has to do with what rpm you are shifting at or maybe the hesitation for the changing gears are forcing a little more gas to be burn and it jumps. I would like to know the real answer also.

i kinda know what you're talking about... when i shift at high rpms with my car i kinda have to grip my steering wheel tighter than normal, otherwise it feels like it wants to break loose.... sucks

I get the same thing too. Its prolly the delay in the tranny shifting. I thinks its kinda cool. Feeling the VTEC and then a quick torque neck snap when shifting. JMO. It can get annoying though.
It's just the time between the shift initiating (pulling out the 2nd gear) and completing (putting in of the 3rd gear and continuing acceleration).
If it becomes EXTREMELY pronounced then it is slippage, but a splitsecond lag is nothing to be worried about in an automatic transmission. This is not SMG II.

The PCM/PGM-F1 will retard the ignition during the shift to try and cut-down on the amount of shock to the clutch packs (by reducing power); the timing returns to normal after the shift.
Remote diagnosis is hard, if you ever get the dreaded 5th - 2nd 3rd -2nd slip (flare) symptoms, then you better watch out (the revs seem to shoot-up like a fried clutch in a manual box)...
