Does the trunk release seem to be too powerful?

I mean, I was able to open my trunk from about 100 yds away. I get paranoid that I may accidently open my trunk from inside the house with the key fob in my jeans. . .

I've done it before with my S2000, and my Prelude before that. That's why you have to hold the button for 2 seconds to get it to open, so small bumps on the button in your pocket won't open it. That's also why the doors automatically lock again if you don't open a door after unlocking with the remote.

Just keep as few keys as possible on your key ring, and that will help prevent that occurrence.

I also think it's cool that we don't have a keyhole on the trunk...

I agree. The trunk looks very clean without a key hole showing.

You have a S2000 and a CLS. Wow! That sounds like a nice garage to pick from.

I was hoping someone would ask about that one day. I was having dinner over at a couples house. They hadn't seen the new CL-S yet. We were having a great time and at the end of the evening I walked out the front door and saw the back of the car open (as I leaded them out to show my new catch). My first thought was that it had been rear-ended. I was terrified.

I puzzled for days, and felt rather embarrassed about having all of my stuff in the truck in public view (thank God, nobody removed anything).

I tried the range on the control the next day. I got way down the street and the trunk kept popping open. I know you have to hold the button down a bit, but my wife had put my "lump" of keys in her purse that evening and the trunk release button touched on something. I now am very careful and don't put the FOB in anything but my pocket.

Perhaps, someone could make a FOB protector -- something to wrap around the FOB

Any good ideas from the inventors out there?

This past summer I was sitting at my sons soccer game about 50 yards from my car. My other son ( have a daughter also ) was playing with the key fob and started pushing the buttons. And you guessed it, the trunk popped open from at least 50 yards. I was sitting at mid field and the car was parked fairly evelated over field level. As I walked to the car to close the trunk, I played with the alarm range, an it has a fairly long range also, maybe 20-25 yards.

Its also great just leaving your headlights on all the time and unarming the car from far away, then have the HID warming up as you approach, cool.

I installed a sub-micro switch in my remote. Looks very flush and nice. Basically the switch interupts the circuit on the board of the remote for the trunk button. You have to hold down the sub-micro sw, then press the OEM switch for like 3-4 sec. Works real well.

I had this problem with the stock fob and also with the aftermarket alarm fob which has a similar little round button.

I was able to fix the problem by going to the harware store and looking around the plumbing section for a little round gasket that I superglued to the fob. It looks like a thin doughnut that is just a little bit wider than the button itself.

I can still press open the trunk just fine, but I really have to mean it. Keys rubbing against it in my pocket won't do it anymore.

It's also nice because the gasket makes the trunk button easier to distinguish with my fingers so I can press it without having to look at the buttons.
