Does this happen to you?

Does anyone else ever notice that when you are at a stop light or some type of stop, that after about 10 seconds the car seems to want to accelerate making you have to press the brakes a little harder?

I went to the Autopedia.com service recall site to check on what to do about a sqeaky moonroof and noticed this problem:

ODI ID: 876507 Make: ACURA Model: CL Year: 2001

Incident: Yes
Fire: Yes
Number of Injuries: 000000
Date of Failure: 10/28/2000
Component: INTERIOR SYSTEMS:PASSENGER RESTRAINTS:AIR BAG:FRONTAL
Summary: VEHICLE SUDDENDLY ACCELERATED WHILE DRIVER HAD FOOT ON BRAKES, WHEELS STARTED TO SPIN AND WENT THROUGH GARAGE WALL AND IN BACK YARD, BUT EVENUTALLY VEHICLE STOPPED BECAUSE IT RAN UP ON A POLE. AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *AK

I have never had it accelerate this bad, but I'm kinda scared that it might some day??

I have noticed that same thing you are referring to. Happens about 5 seconds after I come to a full stop. Weird!

this has been discussed a lot here. It is the A/C compressor cycling. When it kicks in it creats a load on the engine. The ECU kicks up the RPM to compansate. Next time it happens turn off your HVAC completly. And it will go away.

Im assuming that the HVAC is the Climate Control??? I hate not knowing what the acronyms stand for. What if this happens when I have the Climate Control turned off already?

I've only had my CL-S a short while and noticed this surging right away. Until recently I left my climate control on full auto all the time. Now I leave it on auto, but turn the AC off. I've been getting better gas milage too and the surge has gone away. It's definitly the AC.

I know now what you mean. I'm glad there is a reason why it does this! Last thing I need would be my car going through the garage.

Interesting....however, I have run my ac "all the time" because of my sensitive allergies ! So, I can't recall ever having that happen, but I will keep an ear and eye open to see if I notice it. BTW, I have over 25,000 miles on my CLS.
Chow for now !
