I posted a while back about a humming I had coming from the front end of the car. It happens for a few minutes but only a right after start up. I brought it down to the dealership in early January when I realized it was happening everytime I started the car. I have only had the car since December so I didnt want to take a risk. They told me it is the ABS pump and it is a "charactersitsic of the car." I took their word for it and left. I had to bring the car in again last week for something else and had them look at it again. They told me the same thing. This time they urged me not to worry about it, "it is normal for the car."

Is it normal? I have an 03 Type S. Anyone else have this happening to them? I just don't want this to become a bigger problem down the road that I am going to have to pay for out of warranty.

 

It's normal. The ABS does a self-test everytime you start the car. It will hum for a few seconds and then stop.

 

yep mine does it also. If you have to use your ABS, like in the snow, it makes the same noise. It is annoying though.

 

Its normal. Its a self test. It does it at start up then once moving it does it at like 15 mph as well

I just found out that it was the ABS making that noise a couple weeks ago. I'm glad I wasnt the only one to not know what that sound was.
