Do you use SS to accelerate rather than the GAS padel?
I find myself using soley the SS as means of accelerating on the HW rather than the gas padel. Whereever the speed I am crusing at, downshifting to 3rd in SS is enough to get me going... till I decide to slow down...
So you use this technique?

Yeah that sounds about right. I do pretty much the same, but I dont go down to third, but rather to 4th which is usually enough to pass most. Only when I really need some power will I downshift to 3rd.

Cost Drivers!!!!
Up to this point have done but had to think about and so a number of times i just mashed on the gas pedal. I've never had anything besides an automatic so it's ingrained in me to just hit the gas pedal. Today was the first time that I dropped into SS and down a gear or two through instinct.....I was traveling on the highway and had to make a split second decision. I was pretty happy In some fantasy world, I see my self as a f1 driver or touring car driver hehe

The point is when downshifting, does the ECU would auto compensate and increase the GAS flow accordingly without addition input from the GAS pedal?

It does...if you keep the pedal at a constant level...and downshift...you increase revs...but hold the throttle at the same position....This means that the increase in revs means an increase in suction...more air..means more fuel. And of course all that equals more power!!

You are downshifting to create more torque so that you can accelerate more, but you need gas input to accelerate.
Just like in a manual car if you down shift from 5 to 4 that does not accelerate the car it actually slows down or hold back the car but when you stomp on the gas because of the gearing you will accelerate and pass with much ease.

CLS will accelerate with no additional input (increase) on the gas pedal with just downshifting to 3rd.
I think what is happening is that the throtle position is re-mapped on the fly just by shifting to different gear.
