Do You Have Weak Hood Prop Pistons...

Hey all, I have a 03 CL-S under warranty still, the hood pistons dont fully extend unless i push the hood open. I know its a pretty heavy hood, but is that normal or is that something i should have my dealer "look over and replace"? They open about 2/3 of the way by them selves with a little help from me.. then i have to push the hood up to get the maximum extention...
any help would be great!
thanks!

I have to help mine up a little. Nothing major. The hood opens up fine, but not all the way up. I have to raise it maybe 2 inches. I could still access everything I just like the extra room of it fully open so I don't bang my head.

Yeah it is a pain to not have it fully opened, but like you said, its just so i dont slam my head into the grill. I really dont need to monkey underneath the hood much, but as the warranty gets closer to expiration... i want to make sure i'm good to go for the next few years..

If it bothers you and its under warranty have them replace it. I had to replace mine a few years back for the same thing. They are starting to do it again so i will head to the store and buy some new ones

I've had no troubles with mine since I bought the car over 3 years ago. You guys must check under the hood too much....

...ahhh fiddlesticks...mine has to be adjusted less than an inch...I'm not going to worry until the day I need a piece of wood to hold up the hood. lol
